It would really be instructive if articles about budget cuts included actual budget numbers so the reader can judge the relative impact.

Too often "cuts" in government budgets are really reductions in what they had hoped to spend versus what they actually will spend, which year over year are not cuts at all.

When Bill Clinton was running in 1992, he was governor of Arkansas which was 50th in everything. That didn't seem to matter to democrats then, nor did Obama the community organizer's lack of any accomplishments whatsoever prevent you from supporting him.

Why is that?

Why Perry/Rubio?

Because after Bob Dole and John McCain, conservatives won't be nominating another loser.

Forty percent of the population are self-described conservatives (20% liberal). Republicans win when we run conservatives. (See Ronald Reagan)

"Generally speaking, Republicans are primarily comprised of fiscal conservatives, social conservatives or military conservatives."

I don't mean to split hairs, Kristi, but the three wings of the republican party are the fiscal conservatives, the social conservatives and the libertarians. The "military" conservatives and Evangelicals you refer to are generally considered a part of the social conservatives because they represent "traditional" values. Same as the 2nd Amendment people...

It'll be Pawlenty v. Klobuchar next year.

Ya gotta love Ron Paul's college-aged supporters who are buying into the libertarian message of small, constitutional government. But I'd bet very few of his young supporters know that Dr. Paul is also an air force veteran, a religious conservative and a baby doctor who strongly opposes abortion.

"Actually, it was more like a hog-calling contest than a campaign scene, where all the callers too, were of cloven hoof, squealing "Souii!"... isn't that the call? And the crowds came running..."

No, I believe that was "Hope and Change."

Being a former democrat will not hurt Perry with conservatives. Ronald Reagan was a former democrat. I'm a former democrat. Some of us evolve.

Marcia, if the republicans take the senate and the White House in 2012, they'll see to it that you're a free woman whether you want it or not.

Scary, I know.

Posted on 08/15/11 at 07:24 am in response to GQ story says Bachmann's looks contributed to her political popularity

"When I broached the topic of Bachmann and her presidential chances with one prominent conservative commentator, he immediately steered our conversation into the gutter with an assessment of her sexual desirability too dirty to print."

BS. Someone is projecting.
