Moody is a living legend and quite an entertainer. I really enjoyed the show last night and will try and get back to it tonight.
There aren't many of these beboppers left playing. Every tune is an enjoyable lesson in jazz.
Nice background on Carter. He is truly a monster player and I'm really looking forward to the show.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the December 6th Larry Coryell Trio - Artists' Quarter gig in your upcoming picks. It will be the first time Larry has ever played in town with an organ trio and I think it also marks drummer Alphonse Mouzon's (of Weather Report, McCoy Tyner, and other fame) first visit to the Twin Cities.
Man, you interviewed another one of heroes! See you at the show :-)
I LOVE Mose. His original songs are priceless and the spin he puts on blues classics makes them original too. I first got a Mose Allison LP in 1973, it was "Retrospective" - a great record with "Seventh Son", "Fools Paradise", "I Love the Life I Live", "Baby Please Don't Go", and, yes, "V-8 Ford Blues". I fell in love with his voice and musical approach. In the many years since he has written and recorded many more great tunes. I never miss a chance to hear him live. He is a national...
Your picks are also my picks! I guess we'll be seeing you at all the old familiar places, the Artists' Quarter, Ted Mann Hall and the Dakota.
It's a good thing for us jazz fans that Kelly likes it here. This is a great band full of innovative musicians. I'm really looking forward to the CD release party at the Artists' Quarter Friday night.

For what it's worth, the Artists Quarter has posted links to a couple of videos from Carrothers' Wednesday night gig on their website: www.artistsquarter.com/content/view/86/39/
This is great news. This season has been great and with Mayfield as artistic directer, next season should be even better.
Perhaps the MN Orchestra organization can work more with the Twin Cities Jazz Festival next year, since the Minneapolis portion happens in their own Peavy Plaza. There should be some synergy there.
Last weekend we dropped into Cue after a play, because we knew that Arne Fogel would be singing with the Tanner Taylor trio. I ordered a Sapphire martini (very appropriate for the decor) and the experience was quite marvelous. Some friends came and joined us, we ordered appetizers and had a great time. The food and drinks were top notch. We stayed a while, relaxing and listening to that great band.
Lilly is doing a heck of a job
Keep 'em coming
It's good that she a Lowell have figured out that there is much to gain from cooperation and partnering.
