With the number of liberal, TPaw-hating commenters on this post in the double digits, do we need any more evidence that MinnPost is just Minnesota version of the far-left Daily Kos? At least Eric, a liberal himself, wrote a relatively well-balanced commentary.

TPaw never won a majority in his races for governor. Tough to do when it's a three- or four-person race. And Bill Clinton never won a majority, either. Big whoop. Get over it.

Hmmm, who is another winning politician who...

I agree, don't truncate the quote. Use the ENTIRE section of the speech, which is here:

"Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences, a possibility I abhor less or discount less than my colleague Judge Cedarbaum, our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am not so sure Justice...

By the way, I want to add that I don't think Sotomayor is a racist (she just made an arrogant and dumb comment that she probably regrets), but I can guarantee you that if Roberts or Alito had said the reverse, they would not be on the Supreme Court today.

Joe writes: "Frank originally approved of the plan, but later changed his mind after carefully reading it."

Umm, Frank changed his mind after the media or a staffer alerted him to the amendment, and then he MIGHT have read it after that ... but I'm doubting that in any case that he read it "carefully." But, of course, neither Joe nor I know.

Posted on 05/06/09 at 05:54 pm in response to Is America Undertaxed? (A question for Rep. Michele Bachmann)

To be fair, Kyle, MinnPost had only five stories on Bachmann today ... and they're working hard to cover the other Minnesota congresspeople, too. Didn't you see the fascinating story about Rep. McCollum dreaming about Hillary Clinton?

In regards to Black's post, there's not enough context. What period of time is being covered? Why no link to the study? I know it covers "tax burden," but how is that changing with the federal government's gazillion dollars in new spending that has been...

Ah, more hard-hitting news. Really taking the Dems to task! I'm glad MinnPost took some time off from chasing Darth Vader ... er, I mean Rep. Bachmann ... to tell us about Rep. McCollum's dreams about meeting SOS Clinton.

Posted on 04/30/09 at 10:30 am in response to Welcome to the world of Minnesota's diverse conservative movement

Finally! Finally MinnPost has added a right-leaning voice to its long list of left-leaners. Let's hope Michael doesn't become the token conservative and that MinnPost adds a couple of more to bring some true diversity of opinion to its webpages.

Great to see some of the liberal readers huffing and puffing already!

Posted on 04/28/09 at 06:36 pm in response to Bachmann gets the swine flu... wrong

I caught the spelling of "swin," too. It's not even a word, which means that not only are there no editors looking at this material, but the writers aren't even using spellcheck ... or at least paying attention to the results. And it's not the first time I've seen these kind of typos.

Yep, that's pretty nick-picky of me, but not any worse than continuing to go on about Bachmann's "Democrat(ic)" mistake ... or looking for urban rumors in every sentence she speaks.

It's getting...

Posted on 04/23/09 at 05:22 pm in response to Do editorial boards hate Norm Coleman? (Update 5)

I agree, Eric. This ongoing list of what the state's papers say in their editorials is just another attempt at saying "The Old Media still matters!"

I've wondered why the Minnesota Daily is included in this list. Why not all of the other college newspapers in the state?

And to Eric's point about editorial boards: When I worked on a college newspaper eons ago, I was on the editorial board, and we had to decide who we were going to endorse for the governor of Michigan in 1982....

A good comparison of media coverage might be how abortion-related rallies have been covered. A quick search found that "several thousand" attended January's pro-life rally at the Capitol. I don't know where the Strib placed that story, but I think those kind of rallies don't usually get front-page play.

The media often makes decisions based on how bored journalists are with a subject ... and how bored journalists "think" their customers are with a subject. That's why abortion-related...
