MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Well said! And the public should not be picking up a nickel of the cost of this intra-family squabble .
Every day I respect our governor more and more.
Can't wait to watch that debate!! It's about time Science confronted Charlatanism — and got TV coverage.
I beg to differ with this story. Hoffman didn't "mischaracterize" or send an "inflammatory" tweet. She lied about a fellow senator. Lied. Please call it what it was. And is this inconsequential and a waste of everyone's time? No. Elected officials lying about issues and opposing parties is one of the most serious issues we have to face at this time in our history. This is an important story. I hope the other media will give it the prominence it deserves.
Please refresh my memory—isn't (wasn't) Bush an owner or otherwise involved in an educational testing company that profited greatly from No Child Left Behind?
Mr Black: I don't really agree with your analysis today. I watched the arguments and didn't hear anything of substance from the Emmer side. In fact, the Supremes called Emmer's attorney on arguing form over substance and made the point—themselves—that a receipt is proof of a signature. There is also--apparently--a process in place already for questioning rules, but the Emmer campaign chose not to follow it. So while you're certainly correct that the SC might want to revisit the signature...
I'm tired of hearing about gridlock in the absence of laying blame. I watched the legislature give major concessions to the Republican side on both election laws and the budget— and then I watched the Republicans, as a block, refuse to vote for improving our election law because the bill did not have the provision for voter I.D. that they had demanded. Similarly, I watched as Democrats made painful cuts to the budget—cuts they knew were not good for this state— because the governor's staff...
I am not happy to see partisan advocates contributing to this paper. By the way, I understand that the Excelsior CoC resigned from the state and national organizations because of their political advocacy. Yeah, Excelsior!!
Thank you Paul Udstrand for your detailed report on this meeting. It's a great example of the service a message board such as this can provide.
Since this is a moderated board, I suggest that the moderators refuse to post messages such as some of those above that are mainly snide remarks. By the way, good posts David Brauer, Jeremy Powers, Brian Simon, and Bernice Vetsch— factual and provocative. Finally, I leave you with the words of Coleman's attorney Joe Friedberg who was asked by Justice Anderson of the MN Supreme Court near the end of oral argument in the Coleman/Franken case, "is there any evidence of any fraud, any...
