MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
"But DFLers made the Republican majority pay a time-wasting, agonizing price for their election victory"
Have we come to this? Does a respected journalist agree with this tactic? Are these elected officials proud of their actions? To partisan lefties and the organized left this may be seen as heroic.
But to those who believe in democracy as tought in school or hope to instill in their children the good that is democracy, you DFL'ers let us down.
MN Senate DFL'ers...
Would someone at MinnPost publish how much per pupil gets spent on kids in Mpls-Duluth-St. Paul vs Osseo Buffalo Lakeville etc. The descrepency can sometimes be 2x and 3x what some suburban rural districts spend. Given that most of the money comes from the State of MN or is passed through the state from DC, this is cruel. The fact that said cruelty has been the norm for DECADES is just long term imperialism.
"MPS is not an education it's an adventure" Was the joking around phrase...
Tarryl Clark goes to Washington. How did that work for you last time? She should be in Leif Erickson Park. She should be seeing how many people are applying for jobs at Giants Ridge this summer. She shouldn't be in Washington DC. What can you expect from someone who's campaign brain trust is going to include Garrison Keilor, EMILY's, NARAL and a whole bunch of people from 612 and 651.
This echo chamber of a website will have commentary........ I give it about 45 days. Lets play over and under. 45 days from today will be the last recorded comment by the owners of the sight. With in 90 days adds for weird stuff will start appearing on the sight. Doesn't matter if you like MDE, it gets red by the right and left.
Speaking from the rarely heard conservative side:
Speaking about the St. Paul situation, please remember this. Every single one of the new MN-GOP and 4/5 of the returning veteran legislators would rather shut down the govt then increase a tax.
If the govt shut down occurs:
The sun will still rise, the traffic lights will work, the cops will show and get paid, the schools will open, the electricity will work, the water taps will work, there will not be any dead people...
I can't bite my toungue. Former Congressman Oberstar is someone I volunteered for when I was young. I was as DFL'er. Part of what made him so attractive to me was his un-varnished, and barely concealed hatred and disdain for all republicans, conservatives and the private sector. He was a creature of his circumstances. I will not hold that against him. His constant belief that we were at war with the rich and that politics was a constant state of battle stations-battle stations-battle...
TC has one misstep already. Doing her coming out with the Duluth News Tribune. Granted it's the largest. But it has fresh Oberstar blood on it's hands. And if you believe Mike Hatch........ Well let's not go there just yet. Plus last I checked, it's got outatown owners. If she wanted to make the big score and show the 8th she was ready for the show, she should have went to the Mesabi Daily News or the HibbTrib. Or better yet both at the same time. Daily's with punch and local...
Don't forget to add the following. Be happy that the CIA and others probably did things that Candidate Obama and 3/4 of professional left think is illegal in their attempt to get the information that brought OBL down. Things that US Attorney General still wants to prosecute them for. Those hero Seals moved on orders given by POB who ordered such, based on info received from Guantanomo and other places. Info extracted from people who do should not have rule of law in their favor but rule of...
He'll blink.
"I was particularly struck by the focus group’s wowed reaction to Cain, since he was the only black candidate and the focus group was almost all white and South Carolinian"
The problem with Eric and darn near every single White Minnesota Liberal is this. The only film they have ever saw about the south included Bull Connor. They saw a film clip by CBS in 1962 and think nothing has changed.
They don't know that Gov Wallace eventually made common cause with a diffused group of...
