It is a great tragedy that the Twin Cities Ford Assembly plant will close for good on December 22. I have been in the plant many times and I have many friends there. The plant's closing is at least partially a result of bureaucratic intransigence and industrial naivete on the part of public officials. I sincerely hope that the election results will be accepted for what they are by both parties. The last thing we need is a Senator who gained office only because of nefarious legal maneuvers orchestrated by attorneys -- particularly out-of-state attorneys.

Media coverage of the 2008 political campaign has been poor. Can't we worry about more substantive issues than who Barrack Obama met with years ago or what Norm Coleman is wearing?

Our country has serious major issues. The job of the media is to provide information and insight on these major issues. For a country which is rapidly becoming an energy scarce impoverished nation, we should be focusing on major issues.
