Great article. It is high times to get over the baby boomer petulant, neurotic opposition to nuclear power, and expand it to our primary energy source for electricity, including high speed trains. the rest of the world is way ahead of US.
The Democrats says that Ryan is a big target, but he is no different than Scott Walker. How come they could not recall him. Obama, the big egomanical coward that he is, never even showed up in Wisconsin for that one. So Wisconsin could go for Romney. If that happens, Obama needs Virginia and union free North Carolina, where they are having their convention, despite AFL CIO opposition. Can Obama win both? Probably neither. So then he must win Ohio AND Florida, not too likely. If you can...
You make the typical error of today's historians: you confuse national and central banking. Hamilton set up a National Bank, mostly owned by U.S. government shares and a mixed board of directors. While it may have had certain formal similarities to the Bank of England, there were crucial differences: the Bank of the U.S. dedicated itself to development of the United States, the Bank of England to the British Empire. Big difference.
The Federal Reserve is NOT a national bank, but...
Here's what the Democratic expert on Wall Street, former NY Governor Eliot Spitzer, had to say about Obama and "fairness" recently:
"I'm not persuaded that this President has reall been a voice for reform when it comes to Wall Street ... has pretended to take its hits, but it really hasn't."
Spitzer said that Obama makes an "occasional speech" criticizing Wall Street practices, followed by no substantial legislative action.
Obama "has really been on Wall Street's side...
When FDR became President in 1932, he supported the Ferdinand Pecora hearings, which were started by a Republican Senator from South Dakota. Pecora hounded the denizens of Wall street, and major figures such as JP Morgan and National City Banks' Charlie Mitchell were humiliated. Others went to Sing Sing Prison in upstate New York to serve with hardened criminals.
What about Obama's hedge fund Wall Street buddies? It is now proven that Obama buddy Gov Corzine from Goldman Sachs New...
why is morris protecting obama and the big mega banks by ignoring the law they fear the most: HR 1489 Marcy Kaptur return to Glass Steagall legisation that FDR pioneered in 1933?
Is he ignorant of the growing list of co sponsors, including Keith Ellison?
Is he spinning a communitarian fascist, anti capitalist web from the legacy of Benito Mussolini similar communitarian policies?
Glass Steagall had conservative and liberal support from 1933 to 1999 when it regulated...
The self-financing nature of Social Security through payroll taxes was an integral element of FDR's plan for Social Security, which FDR hoped would ensure that "no damn politician can ever scrap my Social Security program." Cutting the payroll tax makes Social Security dependent on Congress's willingness to fund it from the general fund — and it feeds the lie that Social Security is somehow a contributor to the budget deficit.
We need to pass HR 1489 to restore Glass Steagall...
The Republican Austerity program was already tried once in the 20th century, in Nazi Germany, where the population was looted beyond their means of any reasonable standard of living. When the Nazi banker Hjalmar Schacht told Hitler that they had no more cuts available in Germany, he invaded Russia.
Read the new book just released called "Treasure Islands" by a London Financial Insider. He documents how major American banks and corporations have moved their financial operations to...
Ms. Pearson proves that a college education today is consumer fraud. She has absolutely no understanding of US history, FDR, or Obama. Any high school civics student could regurgitate her nonsense.
In reality, Obama is not going to give the FDR specch because he is evil, stupid, and incompetent. IT has nothing to do with the alignment of Congress, which Obama created with his servile Wall Street policies, in particular his fanatical opposition to HR1489, the current bill to...
Here is what is more important, recently from the LA Times:
"Tea party queen and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is convinced that America is sinking into tyranny. Why? In a remarkable profile of the candidate appearing in the Aug. 15 issue of the New Yorker magazine, the artistic flowering of the Italian Renaissance takes a beating for having done away with the god-fearing Dark Ages."
This comes from nut case "christian" philosopher Francis Schaeffer....
