Posted on 01/26/11 at 10:48 pm in response to GOP pushes 'voter fraud' bill, looser gun rules, health action

Let's see. Jobs... Jobs... Jobs...???!!!

Where are the proposals to light a fire under our state's beleaguered economy and juice up private enterprise to create all those promised new jobs?

Oh, that's right. Republicans don't really have a clue regarding how to create jobs for regular people. Even with all their money they can't buy a clue since any worthwhile clue would be incomprehensible to them because it violates the most dearly held beliefs their psychological...

Thank you so much for this article! Most Americans would be shocked to discover how much of the standard wisdom regarding how we should live our lives, including what we should eat and drink, is based on NO actual reputable scientific studies.

I strongly suspect that the timing of the obesity epidemic, coupled as it has been with the hyping and harping on the necessity of low fat diets and the removal of fat from so many processed "convenience" foods, replacing it with carbs to try...

Posted on 01/26/11 at 11:04 am in response to Sorting out Obama's address -- and Bachmann's 'facts'

When will ANY politician have the guts to spell out two very important elephants in the room of our national politics:

1) The current massive deficit was caused by and continues to be fueled by the artificially low rates of income tax (especially capital gains taxes and/or those on investment income) levied on those in our nation who can most easily, and most painlessly afford to pay those taxes (the claim that those folks "create jobs" has been disproved repeatedly and is, of course...

Posted on 01/26/11 at 04:23 pm in response to Bachmann's big night: reaction to her SOTU response

So... I can't help but wonder which of the Koch brothers, Dave or Charlie, called Mickey to ask her to do her "Response to the State of the Union."

Does she not realize that she's being used as a pawn in the game being played by the Koch boys, et al, to scare the rest of the Republicans into giving up any concern they EVER had for the well being of the US or its citizens in favor of supporting ONLY the "give the fabulously wealthy ALL the money," libertarian "John Birch Society"...

Posted on 01/25/11 at 08:10 pm in response to 'Pay-to-play' state senator taking heat over staff email

Sure, it's an error NOW...

Now that it's been exposed.

But prior to that (and likely after the furor dies down) it sounds like standard operating procedure for Senator Newman who either doesn't want his ideology contaminated by listening to the actual concerns of real people or...

doesn't have the courage to even speak to those who are being, or who are going to be seriously hurt by the policies he's hoping to foist on the citizens of the state of Minnesota all to be...

Posted on 01/25/11 at 11:59 am in response to Bachmann proposes $423 billion in federal budget cuts

OK, now if other news media sources will just loudly trumpet exactly how these cuts are most likely to effect the citizens of their regions...

to make it clear to people what they have to lose by the Republicans' continuous desire to punish and further impoverish the poor and middle class while enabling the fabulously wealthy to avoid taxes and extract ever more of the proceeds of our nation's economy - money that should be going into the pockets of the middle and lower classes into...

Let me translate, "We engineer public support," means "We discover exactly the right way to tell the lies needed so that the public can be manipulated into believing that they should support things which are absolutely against their own best interests."

Then we accuse those who oppose of us of being "liberals," " elitests," "big government" types, and convince the public that we care about them (ha ha, that's a good one!) and those who are actually trying to protect their interests...

Are "Computer Science Standards" included in the incessant NCLB testing? Will schools that do not meet the standards be declared to be "failing schools?"

Classroom teachers and schools have no money for buying additional computer equipment, nor do they have any time to devote to teaching students anything beyond how to get into the programs which drill those students on the information included in NCLB testing.

The current system as it exists completely locks out the...

Posted on 01/25/11 at 01:33 pm in response to Wow: Jesse Ventura sues TSA for 'unlawful sexual assault'

What will the demagogues like former King Timmy do when China takes over our position as "the most successful and most prosperous nation" (likely to happen very soon) precisely because the puppeteers who hold his strings have been working for the past many decades to dismantle everything that made us successful and prosperous (for the vast majority of citizens) in favor of creating a nation in which the richest of the rich live lives of unbelievable avarice while the rest of the nations...

Posted on 01/25/11 at 11:48 am in response to Tim Pawlenty's blockbuster book trailer

How many layers of dishonest demagoguery can be piled into 30 seconds?!

First response: the man thinks he's Ronnie Raygun.

It's already quite clear that former Little King Timmy's idea of "freedom" (as demonstrated by his work here in Minnesota) is the complete and unabridged freedom of our nation's wealthiest citizens to extract, by hook or by crook, whatever they want from their fellow citizens and their government(s) and pay virtually nothing (by comparison) to support the...
