Marcus Albert Foster, the first black superintendent of a major school district wrote a 1970 book on urban education that still highly relevant today. I scanned this rare book and put it online at http://MakingSchoolsWork.com

I believe that BP will probably file for bankruptcy, at least in their US division before this ends. If so, this "first come, first served" system could be a real mess unless it is based on a lien on future claims.

On CNBC a couple of days ago, retired General Electric head Jack Welch was discussing the Hudson River PCB cleanup and claims. When GE required tax returns from a few years back the claims went down 90%.

The truth be told, in more remote areas there is a huge...

First they gave us "Al Gore" science and we did nothing.

Next we will get a "Gore tax" (carbon cap and trade) and we will have $4.50 per gallon gasoline.

The Framington Heart study was essentially all "white" in the beginning but the majority of the original participants were women, contrary to what is written. This is very relevant to the "second hand smoke" debate because back in 1948 most men smoked and few women did. Also, most women didn't work out side the home so we have an good, long tern study of the effects of second hand smoke that is ignored by things like the Surgeon Generals report on second hand smoke. Framingham asked about...

Bill Ayers gave and endorsement of support for Soliah/Olson. His wife Bernadine Dohn gave a speech at her "ungagged one" fund raising event. http://presslord.com/speech.htm

The Star Tribune seemed to be totally "clueless" about the Opsahl murder and the Marcus Foster assassination by the SLA. The Star Tribune discussion group was one of our main forums. We repeatedly emailed Star Tribune writers,...

I'll be the first to concede that Flynn, when active as our archbishop was one of the better people in the Catholic church “recycling” of pedophile priests but he had to be aware of this throughout his career. I had family members in the mortuary industry. Morticians had a loose urban/rural network. Many people were born in rural areas and moved to the city. When they passed away there was often wakes here and then wakes and internment in the rural area where they were born.

As I recall, after her 1999 arrest someone looked up the voting records and she voted at least twice as "Sara Jane Olson". It made the news. The Minnesota law at the time stated that person (woman?) could vote using their "married name". The legislature amended the law to "legal name".

Also, there was one, perhaps two speeding tickets but no other local criminal activity. She also used a friends name and passport for her families two years in Zimbabwe that occurred when Patricia...

Beyond the general "liberal bias" at Minnpost.com this article is extremely tacky in the way it tries to glean a mental state by rumors and subjective comments. Like the job or award you don't get it is a loss.

Palenty's "inner circle" was obviously rooting for him and in that sense the analogy about the playoff game you almost won was correct and appropriate. It would be extremely easy to write a story in this style about Al Franken and his reaction to getting consistently trashed...

Last weekend's CNBC interview show on Palin showed that she is exceptionally knowledgeable on matters relating to energy costs and production and is very good at talking about them.

Besides the fact that certain fat cat political consultant wannabee (who will remain nameless) apparently is not on a level on the "food chain" where energy costs are considered to be "relevant" on CNBC Sarah Palin emphasised this noting that in Alaska gasoline was $5+ in cities in $10 or more per...

the Dresden Germany comments are interesting. I've seem old movies of steam locomotives on lines with overhead electric lines so diesel is not a stretch. Another solution is the so-called "Green Donkey" switch engine that can run off a pantograph or diesel engine.

An interesting future prospect is a possible light rail line to downtown St. Paul using the Hiawatha and the Ford plant tracks. I believe I read that the Ford Bridge was rebuilt to potentially accommodate light rail....
