I think the fact that Gary Schiff proposed a City Charter amendment to require a public referendum on any proposal for a professional sports facility involving more than $10 million in public funding shows his true commitment to the taxpayer. Of course we all know how that went in the end. For both stadiums.

I went to my caucus, 13-8, last Tuesday. I hoped to become a delegate for Mr. Schiff. As it turned out, all who wanted to become delegates to the City Convention were able to do...

Ray, did you happen to look at the list of votes? 38 Democrats FOR but only 33 Republicans. 39 Republicans AGAINST, but only 21 Democrats. And who has been the driving force behind the stadium from the government side? None other than our Democrat governor. And there are plenty of Democrats who love to talk free market.

I thought bobble-head Biden and huffy-puffy Pelosi made a great backdrop for the nonsense that we heard in the State of the Union speech.

The President denouncing and defending the bank bailout in the same breath is reminiscent of John Kerry’s “I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.” Only somebody who wants badly to believe will actually swallow that kind of line.

And what about his energy policy—nuclear power, offshore oil drilling and “clean” coal...

Brian Simon says “That understanding of insurance seems to support one of the 'baloney' ideas near & dear to so many liberals: universal insurance coverage. The best way to share the risk over the broadest pool is to put everyone in the same pool.”

Brian, exactly what do you think universal coverage MEANS?

On a less sarcastic note than Thomas, I also agree with Bernice. It's what this country needs.

It’s really interesting to see how quickly the nonsense can be spread. Ann says “if, as I have read, 85% of people already have health coverage, and the majority are happy with it . . .” but does not tell us where she read that.

It’s a number you are unlikely to find anyplace else. 85% approval for ANYTHING is almost unheard of. A Rasmussen Poll from last November found 32% of Mass residents considered the State health insurance plan a success, 36% considered it a failure:...

Peter, I believe if you check the records you will find Mickey Mantle was not a drug user—he was an alcoholic. One of the real disgraces of the Hall of Fame is that Roger Maris was kept out.

Strange. No mention of the US Marines eventually kidnapping Aristide and turning the country over to a more corporate president. No mention that about a year a massive demonstration in Port-au-Prince demanding Aristide's return—of course No Clinton, No Oberstar.

Wonderful news. Monsanto hasn’t messed soy up enough with their Roundup. This should provide greater opportunities to really do the job up right.

“We at the Organic Consumers Association are often asked, ‘Which foods should one only eat organic?’ At the top of our list is soy. There are few agricultural crops more dangerous to humans and the environment than conventional soy.”

When you read "The Family" note the Democrats, such as Hilary Clinton and Senator Senator Mark Pryor. who are prominently mentioned.

I hope the day comes soon when people wake up to the fact that not all Democrats are "liberals" and not all Republicans are "conservatives." And to the fact that not all "liberals" are good and not all "conservatives" are bad.
