If we actually hit 10 billion world population by the projected date the sharing of food with the rest of the world will be the problem( the hardest to solve by sharing).

Hopefully the ALEC method of governing will continue to gain disrespect.

Posted on 04/12/13 at 01:41 pm in response to Senate DFL going its own way on tax reform

We have enough problems with the Republicans trying to dump on the poor; we don't need to refine a regressive tax!
Focus on the PROGRESSIVE income tax and make it truly progressive. We built this country with a highly progressive income tax and the focus of the "protect the rich" crowd has been to lessen the income tax and hit us with increased fees, sales taxes and real estate taxes....ALL are effectively REGRESSIVE.

This fiasco was started by the behavior of two " Christian family values Republicans" and made worse by the lies and deceit of other " Christian family values Republicans".

I hope the desire to embarrass the Republicans is outweighed by the desire to lessen the losses for the taxpayers. Of course, if the DFL Senate allows a deal now, the rightwing hypocrites will win by saying the deal was done to protect the DFL hypocrisy/cheaters.

Anyone who engaged in unethical conduct...

The deceit and/or lies by the GOP leaders who outed her are worse than her behavior! Her behavior was sort of private....theirs was done as part of their position as political leaders!

Because the public goes to casinos and sports stadiums we should just forget the fine arts.
Our highschool now has artificial turf for our football field....we need an indoor stadium for football/baseball; we have one for hockey....seems like discrimination to me...recent headlines announce more cuts coming for our school budget ....probably should cut any and all fine arts, maybe close the library and ciut taxes.

The GOP should draft Bracken- Bachmann for President 2016...we...

What Senator Paul did was the right thing to do no matter who was president and I suspect he might not have done the right thing IF a republican was President....but the President is Obama and it doesn't matter...Sen. Paul was right to call attention to this and I am sad that both of my senators sat on their butt while the chance to challenge these killings and their secrecy goes unchallenged.

I sure hope we stop invading and supporting apartheid or most people will not remain so complacent.

We can be glad there are people in congress with the courage to speak out on this issue( they'd probably all fit in my Suburban!). Our Senators seem to be ...

Mr. Ellison has become something MN can take pride in; "peaceful and courageous". I'm glad we have him in Congress and hope he and Rep. Nolan can bring some sense to the place.

The concept of bi-partisanship was a great ideal before the GOP becamre "faith based" and removed themselves from negotiating for the good of the country/state. If Dayton holds to the same naive position Obama started out with he will do just as well.

Ideologues don't negotiate, they are bound by principles they believe are correct, everyone else is wrong! Look back to how bi-partisan they were and the reality is clear. Negotiating with terrorists can work, but, when it doesn't work,...

Posted on 02/08/13 at 12:38 pm in response to 3 reasons why Dayton’s property tax plan is wrong-headed

The whole system does need reform.

Homes subsidizing farmland when farm land is under assessed and very productive makes no sense.

I suggest passing the entire Dayton budget as is and dealing with tax reform as a single issue at a non-budget year time! Property tax unfairness and confusion is only one aspect of many problems. If the DFL controlled three branchs can't reform the system then they are all either incompetent of compromised. It could be done and should be done!
