MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.

The deal stinks! Balancing the budget by borrowing and deferring payments is wrong. But I do believe it is the best deal Dayton could get. I lean conservative, but Dayton has earned my vote because he is pragmatic and is willing to put the good of the sate above himself and his party.
Unfortunately the government shutdown mainly impacts the most vulnerable Minnesotans. And the irony is these are the people Dayton claims to be protecting. I don't see the Republican compromising. They seem to relish in showing everyone how well we are doing during the shutdown. So, Govenor Dayton, open the state up! We will remember this pragmatic approach in November 2012 when we bid the Republican farewell.
Press Secretary — Katharine Tinucci ??
The irony to me is that shutting down the government inflicts the most pain on the people Dayton says he is protecting. People of means have less day-to-day reliance on MN government.
Can someone calculate how long the government needs to be shut down before the related drop in expenditures will then equal projected revenues (therefore balanced budget)?

Shelby keep his mouth shut???? This has to be fiction!
Interesting observations. And your solutuion is...????
Shelby says..."but politicians shouldn't be allowed around questions of science. This stuff is too serious to leave in the hands of people beholden to high-roller donors..."
I agree Don...but if we follow your thinking, what stuff isn't too serious to leave in the hands of politicians?
Go Tarryl Go! I appreciate your work in solving the housing slump!
Don, thank you for talking about this serious topic. We need to hear more.
