MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
"By the way, equating homosexuality (a behavior) with skin color (an immutable characteristic over which we have no control) is ludicrous on its face."
I suggest that Mr. Swift be clear about differentiating between the position of his church (that homosexual attraction itself is "objectively disordered"*) and valid scientific studies of human sexuality, which indicate that human sexuality, like all other aspects of hard-wired human preferences, consists of an entire continuum of...
Perhaps someone can remind me why the Roman Catholic Church considers homosexuality a sin or oppose gay marriage?

II. THE DEFINITION OF SIN

Why is the GOP taking such a hard line? Because they want it all.If Rep. Emmer has any integrity, he'll stop with the automatic recount unless there is substantial evidence that would likely result in a change in the outcome. The party be damned.
I see many charges made and no evidence offered in support of any of them. Whatever merit the arguments may have will have to be learned elsewhere.
Why was TP silent when those salaries were increasing between 2005 and 2008?
Tarryl Clark squandered whatever possibility she had of winning with a timid, if not childish, campaign. Challenging Bachmann to reduce her salary and running a stop watch is a good example of the lack of intensity in the campaign. This wasn't about being elected to the student council. Where was the red meat, of which there was more than an ample supply?
Emmer's apparent loss, by fewer than 9,000 votes, is not in and of itself evidence of any problems with the election. Horner took 12% of the vote, some 250,000 votes. The majority of these likely came from moderate Republicans who rejected some of Emmer's more extreme positions. (Witness the endorsements Horner received in the weeks leading up to the election.) Minnesota sent all but one of its federal delegation back to Washington and in Oberstar's case the margin was even smaller than in...
It seems the Wilfs are at the mansion's door.
I haven't been able to say the pledge in good conscience for years, ever since I stopped believing in god or that liberty and justice are available to all in this country.
Mr. Fletcher's faults have been more than adequately documented over the years. His most recent gaffes, to my mind, are his purchase of a $280,000 toy to patrol the few miles of the Mississippi River within his jurisdiction and his mishandling of the RNC. Goodbye, Bob.
