I think that the people paying nearly 40% are the folks just under the top 1% and who are getting bad tax advice... The top 1%, and a lot of the top earning corporations, are paying significantly less, or nothing at all.

The skyways are there because we have brutal winters here, and it is much easier for everyone that works downtown to use the skyway than it is to go outdoors, it is the extreme-ness of our environment that dictates the use of the skyway. Secondly, in summer, warm spring days, even warm winter days, people DO go outside and enjoy being outdoors downtown.
I honestly would not care one bit of the Vikings left, and no team, EVER took their place. We have many other bigger problems in this state than sports, and a whiny billionaire owner who can't figure out a way to pay for a new stadium other than asking the deficit ridden state to pay for well over half of it has no sympathy from me.
Perhaps Zygi should find a way to finance one, that does not involve asking the taxpayers for money.
Richard, we have those types of schools now, they are vocational and technical schools, and they are indeed very good at teaching a specific skill.
However, the role of a 4 year "liberal" school is not so much to teach a skill as it is to teach people to think, and to educate them, to broaden their horizons, and to expand the scope of their thinking and creativity to enable them to make new scientific descoveries, to create new technologies, to invent new things, and to think and...
