Great project! I live on the Iron Range and have three 20-something daughters. One lives in Jackson, WY. One in Portland, OR (but may return). And the third recently moved to Duluth, MN, which she said felt like "treason." She didn't want to move, but circumstances called for it.
I think another interesting facet of this topic is those ruralites that DO move away, but return (sometimes many years later) because they want that sense of home/rootedness. Sometimes that doesn't happen...

My daughter graduated from Perpich three years ago. It was a fabulous experience for her. Wonderful to read about this talented Perpich student. Go Rudy!
As a Rukavina constituent, supporter and delegate, I'm disappointed in your flippant appraisal of this veteran state representative and gubernatorial candidate who is blessed with intelligence AND a sense of humor. If "long time capitol reporters" didn't take his campaign seriously and rohave utinely sought him out only for a "fiery quote and not substance" then there is a problem in the ranks of (city-centric) capitol reporters. His quick wit might make us smile (or cringe), but he's dead...
