MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
It occurs to me that America does have a few territories, like Puerto Rico, Guam and that kind of thing.
Maybe we could get a referendum, cede the land, and give these folks a few years with their form of governance and watch from a distance to see how it plays out. Sort of like a petri dish approach. If they can prove it works then we can take it seriously, but until then I'm gonna' remain leery of this experiment because I think it will turn rotten and stink to high heavens like an...
Considering Bachmann's success so far, what I find absolutely fascinating is the number of people who identify with her and beyond that give her an unscrutinized pass on her mess ups.
There's an old saw that actions speak louder than words... but I only know of one of these two items in regard to this presidential prospect. Do something of consequence Michele.
Enough with the denigration talk Michele, I don't think this country, its government and our social programs are that...
“And nobody has told this story.”
If taken literally the woman has just called herself a nobody by my use of the language.
Is she speaking English?

Following the logic of these two pundits the tax rate for the wealthy should descend to zero. Ultimately one person will have all the money and will somehow stimulate jobs for all.
The one point I may accept in their analysis is that the hidey-holes for money, tax shelters, are the warrens that need to be raided.

It is said that art is driven by the muses. So I speculate that Melpomene, the muse of tragedy, is muse behind art concerning Bachmann rather than the traditional muse of art Polymnia.

"I enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins in action against each other and rivals."
That's almost perverse to draw pleasure from witnessing what was tantamount to a cock fight.
Personally I was embarrassed that out of five million Minnesotans these are the two who are on the campaign trail. We have better conservative talent than what these two represent.
You can draw a straight line from either one of these candidates to Bradlee Dean who's prayer prompted Rep.Zellers to...
President Obama's choice of slow withdrawal assures one thing and one thing only. More Americans will bleed out on foreign soil over a longer period of time.
A handful of American families will be forced to accept the utter depth of grief over loss of a loved one. While the pundits analyze, your fellow citizen soldiers die and families grieve... not that this should disrupt your analysis.
"America is not at war. The Armed Forces are at war. America is at the mall"

This Sen. Warren Limmer is really something. He wants a constitutional amendment to constrain citizen civil legal rights to marriage so activist judges can't undo DOMA, and yet he wants the same courts to be activist on his behalf to shut down the entire state government.
Is this man playing some sleight of hand? Is it some kind of now you see it now you don't approach to courts and governance?

Mr. Niska, if I'm following your line of reasoning, then beyond states rights will come county rights, beyond county rights will come township rights and so on until we get to individual rights which it seems to me are the constitutional rights and we've come full circle to the safety and protection of the citizenry.
I'm not buying your argument against AG Swanson that you've found the exit ramp to a circular argument. Your language while clever at times just doesn't pass the smell...
I'm inclined to agree that Obama has failed to produce. If he is biding his time to strike for progressive causes in a second term he needs to signal that very clearly.
He'll probably get my vote as the lesser of two evils but I'll be hard pressed to argue the case that he is going to deliver a darn thing on the progressive agenda.
