MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
To be fair, that Target spot in the navbar was there *before* the redesign launched.
I think it looks great. I'll miss the snowman though. :)
I think it's really simplistic to blame Republicans OR Democrats. Both are equally bad about putting corporate interests before people. Oh, for a viable third party. Or publicly-funded campaigns so that fundraising/lobbying could be completely eliminated. I see NONE of our current problems getting better until the fundamental flaws of how the government is run (at the local AND national level) get addressed.
I'm not optimistic.
Wow. I haven't gotten my increase notice yet, but I am filled with dread. Welcome to the plutocracy, I guess?
This is where I have to admit that the Tea Partiers DO have a point: our system is broken. The only question is, how do we fix it? I have no idea.
Honestly I think that our over-serious editorial board just doesn't like Franken. There was a really great article in Slate the other day about how the press misunderstands him that I felt was right on.

I was at the Memorial Service too and I still feel sick about it. As I recall it was a small number of people who booed Trent Lott and the rest of us (including Lott himself) laughed at them. It was actually a nice tension release at the time. I was a little put-off by Kahn's speech but I really liked Tom Harkin's.
I will never forget the next day at work when I was cornered by several Republicans in my office who started laying into me about the service. I was completely shocked...
The columnist comparison is a useful one. Another factor to consider with bloggers is that their readers/commenters usually hold them accountable and will often call them out if they get a fact wrong.
In some ways, over time, blogs can end up becoming MORE truthful than traditional newspaper columns because of that ongoing relationship and the accountability that bloggers feel to those readers/commenters.
