People here don't have a very good memory of the 2008 election. The media didn't get on Bachmann's case until October of that year when she not only put her foot in her mouth, but her leg up to the naval. Frankly, it took a national news program before any journalist in this state had the guts to start putting into print the stupid stuff she did. Then they tasted the blood. If she had gotten the attention of the media in early September, El would have raised money at a more effective time...

Good strategy, Sutton. Let's keep reminding people about Mark Ritchie and the recount; about how it was a model for the country. How he managed to stay above the fray and involve people from all sides. Let's remind people that every court ruled that it was well done and not a single justice criticized a single thing. Then let's remind people why this last election was about – 8 years of utter failure by the GOP in EVERY facet of government – state and federal. We're losing jobs. We're...

Spencer, the difference here is "unfiltered." Minnesota Public Radio reporters are some of the best journalists in the state. And hosts like Gary Eichten, for instance, don't let people off the hook when they avoid answering questions. In contrast, WCCO looks like a radio station serving a 3,000-population small town filling the time with one hour of whatever Pawlenty wants to talk about.

Pawlenty's real political skill is the ability to call someone a jerk with a smile on his face...

Former U.S. senators don't have many options these days. In fact, they are: run for other office – usually "higher" than senator, such as governor, president or vice president; become a lobbyist; or see what you can do on the lecture circuit. Especially in Coleman's case, he was an assistant attorney general. Not a lot of call for former assistant attorney generals.

And Norm's not rich. He probably doesn't make enough to live in the life he's become accustomed to.

Running for...

In this case, I think the term "entitled" means the election certificate should be issued. The word "order" means something different in law. However, the vernacular that an order is required could put Pawlenty in trouble because the hard-core will want the word "order" and Pawlenty's a smart enough attorney to realize that if an order comes it will castigate him for delaying.

If anybody was wondering if Rep. Marty Seifert might modify his ABSOLUTELY NO TAX stance just a little, you can pretty much say he won't based on where he plans to make his announcement. Micro Control is owned by Harold Hamilton who is as anti-tax as they come. He runs the website

That's better than the ones I was suggesting, which are:

If you thought government was the problem, we have news for you.

I may have lost the state, but I kept my promise.

There is no problem that can't be made worse by someone with a selfish desire for higher office.

The only way Jim Ramstad can win the governor's race is if he becomes a Democrat. He is NO WHERE NEAR conservative enough to get endorsement by what is left of the Republican party in this state, which only wants people who can speak in tongues and want to dismantle everything but the roads and the JOBZ program. I suppose he could run in the primary, but that means a Republican candidate will be around for three months before that with lots of money and volunteers. And that would also mean...
