I echo @#4's remark about Neal's (@#1) comments.
If I may also add something about the inane Mr. Pawlenty ..... It especially takes some gall for him to stand there and "[fault] the administration for cutting aid to democracy organizations in Egypt ...." Wouldn't that come under his umbrella of Government wastefulness!?
The late actor Gregory Peck also had a similar anecdote about his friend and fellow actor, James Mason. The latter was encountered in the streets of London by an elderly woman who queried, "Mightn't you be the wonderful James Mason in his later years?"
But, on a serious note, dear Don: Welcome to MinnPost. I appreciate your sincerity, your thirst for knowledge, your humility, and above all your sense of humor. You are just what the doctor ordered to liven this site.
Hello, MinnPost Editors!
Do you even glance at what you put out? This post is like an old record player that is broken, or like a loopy computer program!
----------------------------
I have gotten the gist of the article; and here is my take on it ....
It does not matter how much wealthy countries or giant conglomerates offer the poor African countries for a piece of their land. It will still be a steal! And there is no guarantee that in the future that leases or...
Thank you for this superbly passionate appeal to common sense and to truth. It is always encouraging to find some one voicing out what the quiet and the reasonable believe.
I know you have touched on a lot of things I care about as well. But, if I may add one more item ... the drive to relinquish us from our privacy rights using all devious means and justifications. I'll be brief and mention just two atrocities: The Patriot Act, and lately the drive for a "Voter ID." There is only one...
Two thumbs and two big toes way up!
Ms. Bachmann gives loons a bad name, especially the Minnesota loon.
She's been threatening (and actually has begun) to repeal ObamaCare, and parts of the Constitution she does not like. She wants to have a say (maybe the last word) on the upcoming 2012 presidential elections. Actually, she's already made up her mind who the winner ought to be. And you can guess who that is.
It is sad that she is not happy enough with what she does outside the borders of our State. Now she wants...
If I may be permitted, I have a totally different take on this episode ... and I apologize in advance if some find it irksome.
The matter of abortion is only a subtext in Santorum's denunciatory remarks. If you listen carefully, you'll hear him saying the name "Obama" several times, then he defined the man as black ... in case nobody has noticed or in case everybody has become blind overnight. It is a very subtle "tell" (as in poker) but it is there all the same. Of-course, Mr. Obama'...
/// [Michelle Bachmann]cast last year's health care reform law … as "the crown jewel of socialism." ///
???
Hasn't anybody noticed the incongruity of the metaphors there? Crown jewels and socialism?!

///...she was: "a screamer, and in many cases, pretty close to a nut case." ///
???
We have known for some time now (and with trepidation) that all demagogues and megalomaniacs are screamers and nut cases ever...
"We live in the middle of regulatory tsunami ...."
???
But wasn't it de-regulatory tsunami that nearly brought the country to its knees a couple years back?

"Overregulation can do the ultimate damage."
???
Hahahaha ...
Are you really over-regulated, Mr. Donahue?!
What's that saying? Give them an inch, they want a foot; give them a foot, they want the whole nine yards and more!
What gall, what chutzpah!
To return after 25 years, hoping everything is forgotten and forgiven ...
"Honey, I'm back. Did ya miss me?" says the brutish and abusive monster of a husband.
... Or is he now financially broke and hoping to milk the starving and dying cow out of her last vestiges of life and dignity?
... I sure hope there are enough sensible and smart people now in Haiti to give this guy some good old-fashioned suffering, the kind he used to inflict.
