I disagree with you about your assessment that the speech had too much "scripture" and that it attempted to mention all the on-the-scene "victims" of last Saturday's horror. I think scripture was appropriately used even by the two cabinet officials who spoke before the President. I'm sorry if it offends some, or is not PC enough. Heck, just suck it up for once, it won't kill you.
As for whether there is or isn't going to be a "political bloodsport truce," I would stake my money on...
@#5 - "Funny, I don't recall Obama getting such a proctol exam."
-------------------------------------------
I don't know what a proctol exam is, maybe you meant protocol exam.
At any rate, you must have been living at another planet at the time. Obama got more than his share of public exam, scrutiny, and ridicule. And it still goes on to this day with the wacko birthers and others. And, of-course, the right-wing pundits and other assorted demagogues are having the time...
When they interview a potential presidential candidate, doesn't anyone dig deeper into the subject's history anymore? Shouldn't we at least go back and ask some probing questions?
I, for one, would like to ask Mr. Pawlenty the following ...
1- Just before the 2002 elections, didn't you start out running for the U.S. Senate?
2- Were you not persuaded or ordered by Vice-President Cheney to abandon your quest and instead run for the Governorship? Could you have said "No"...
To Myles Spicer (@#2):- Thank you, Myles. Your comments here are succinct and spot on. What's more, they touched all the bases, as far as I'm concerned.

To Mr. Tim McGuire:- You may have been a long-time Minnesotan at some point, but your defense of Arizona shows you've caught their virus. When you said that Kyl is "immensely popular," I couldn't help but chuckle. And, of-course, we all know about John McCain and what an...
@#19 - "...waiting to see how many liberal progressive republicans we have currently in office will jump and try to restrict firearms now."
-----------------------------------------------
I don't know if he is pro-gun or anti-gun, and I don't know if he is liberal, progressive, or regressive conservative. But a republican Congressman from New York has already blared his horn. Congressman King wants a law banning guns around Congressmen. Apparently, the irony of his quest has...
Perhaps others have said this before and much better than me, I have no doubt. The problem with guns in America is not its proliferation due to lax laws or laws with too many loopholes. The problem really is that old and persistent national hunger for bigger, faster, and more powerful products ... or in a nutshell, the "super-size me!" mentality.
A poignant example of this societal conundrum: People buy and drive trucks when they don't even have the need or use for one-tenth the power...
It is not too surprising that "conservative" republicans led by the zealot Ms. Bachmann are preparing to take a quick "Constitution for Dummies" course from Judge Scalia. After all, they have all consistently demonstrated that they suffer from a cognitive disorder that we can call "selective attention disorder." Let's just dub it SAD!
On the other hand, I'm only glad (happy, actually) that the President does not need to take lessons on the Constitution from those dullards at the...
Hmmpff ... hmmpff ... harrumph ... harrumph!
Yeah, baby. I'm gonna repeal wimpy Obama and silly Pelosi on Thursday! And if Boehner doesn't watch out, I'll repeal him on Friday!
Oh, yeah. About those ninnys that voted for silly Clark ... I'll be fixing their wagons real soon too.
It's all God's will. Amen!
So, tell me please. Did Ms. Bachmann ever finish reading the book lo those many years ago? Or did she all of a sudden go into a trance and an overwhelming spiritual conversion take place right then and there? I imagine the book, with its book-marker at page 5, sliding off her lap onto the floor as she spasmodically looked out the window at the beautiful Winona landscape.
Ms. Bachmann was thinking of all those "conservative" founding fathers. Yes, she was thinking how "right-thinking...
After all, organizations like Green Peace and Education Minnesota employ lobbyists. Are these the lobbyists that come to mind...when we think of "lobbyists"???
--------------------------------------------
Actually the two you have mentioned as well as some others lobby Congress on their own. I do not believe they hire big lobbying firms to do the work for them. Green Peace and Education Minnesota do not do quid-pro- quo deals with politicians, and hence actually have harder time...
