'The problem with lobbyists is they exist.'

I recently watched a movie called "Casino Jack." It's about Jack Abramoff, and he is excellently portrayed by Kevin Spacey. It is highly instructional(as well as entertaining.) I strongly recommend it to everybody.
It is a wild guess but I think that the first and probably only rule of "lobbyists" is: In all things, lie to yourself first!
Once you have convinced yourself that...

Dear Susan:
This brings to mind Roger Miller's old song, "Ye Cain't Go Roller Skating In a Buffalo Herd."
Happy New Year!
“I’ve always said I’d prefer not to serve more than three terms, and I won’t serve more than four."

C'mon Mr. Cravaack. How can you do this to me? ... and so soon after I recently declared on another thread that I liked "the cut of your gib."
Now, let's see ... three terms is six years, four is eight, and five is ten. But six is an even dozen. So, let's just go ahead and commit to six terms right now!
And twelve...

I commend you your self-deprecation, Milwaukeeans and other assorted Wisconsinites.
But really, we Minnesotans can do without your cheese and your beer anyways!
Answer to @# 1 ...
whoever is less urbane, maybe?! :))
This is all a bunch of hooey! The "comeback kid" story-book and fantasy-creation is nothing but one big PR drive by the White House. They are just laying the groundwork for Obama's second term presidential campaign.
1- The "tax cut/unemployment deal" that you mentioned is going to come back (and that will be the real 'comeback") and haunt everybody that pushed it thru. Nothing really has been done about getting or creating serious measures that result in jobs, jobs, jobs. Giving money...
@#5 ... "Who says John Boehner doesn't have a sense of humor."

I am inclined to agree, but I'm also thinking he is sly as a fox here.
By this assignment of Ms. Bachmann, he accomplishes at least two things hopefully ...
1- Being in "Intelligence" means you'll be privy to lots of secrets. Ms. Bachmann will be required to be tight-lipped about practically everything she'll be doing. She may be spending less time at...
I read somewhere recently that Ms. Bachmann was in contention for the House Speaker-ship position. (Obviously, she did not get it or withdrew her name.) But, could this have been the reason for her being "snubbed"?
Ah yes, we all know that these dern politicians in Washington are petty and spiteful, don't we?
Dear Rev. Riley:
Regarding your point ...
"You say that the president vows to fight these tax cuts for the rich harder in 2012 than he did in 2010. How could he possibly be more effective fighting in 2012 than in 2010?"
... I'm afraid this is very much akin to the situation where the doctor tells the patient, "Uh, I'm going to clean up this serious wound to your leg now, put some cool-looking bandage on it. Later, I'll come back when gangrene has set in and go from there...
