MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
What an unbelievably ignorant statement to make.
Audrey, thanks for the window into the future. Health care isn't something I think about very often because I'm young and don't have health issues, yet I'm always amazed when I stop and consider that we pay over $6,000 a year on top of the enormous amount my employer pays for our health insurance, and we hardly use it. It's frustrating and I'm tempted to just dump all of the premiums into a savings account, as stupid as I know that would be.
Also, I go to church in Minneapolis with an...
I'm more or less with Bert on this. Robin, your hatred for Christianity is palpable, and I'm sorry for that. To wrap Christianity up in a box and tie a bow on it as if you've defined it is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. There's a wide, wide chasm between Fred Phelps and Tony Jones.
Calling GOP'ers zealots and slapping on Bible-thumper and gun-waving stereotypes? Keep it classy Brian.
Mark, I'm well aware of the mudslinging from Republican blogs over the Franken recount. There's a reason I don't read any of those blogs.
(By the way, it's "Mr. White," not "Ms. White." :) )
Lynda, nobody cares about the county clerk election. Really, think of the last time a county clerk election was contentious or was a race anyone engaged any energy in? This is the result. And not that it makes it any better, but the problem was discovered the next morning, not 2 days later...
Whether you want to call it analysis or reporting, it's shoddy. It doesn't tell the reader what really happened. Instead, it simply says that due to human error, the numbers were adjusted, and then goes on to paint a picture of the clerk as a fierce partisan who would bend over backwards and commit fraud to win an election for someone. Where's the story on the actual issue? It took watching only a few minutes of the 18-minute news conference the clerk gave to see what happened.
Of...
That's some pretty brutal analysis of the Waukesha County clerk. Did you watch her news conference? It was a simple mistake of apparently not saving an Access spreadsheet. The mistake was discovered on Wednesday, before the final results were submitted. Additionally, prior to the missing votes, people were already noting that Waukesha County had the 3rd lowest turnout in the state, which didn't make sense given their electoral history.
I don't recall seeing analysis this demeaning of...
Nice story. I always find it interesting to see how the U.S. uses foreign aid as a diplomatic tool. As much as Rand Paul would love to see foreign aid eliminated, it's too important for our international relations to ever meet the chopping block.
Great topic! This underscores my issues with both parties. Neither one is willing to get serious. Of course, it's only because the American people are pretty divided over how to address the issue too, but someone has to step forward with a plan that makes sense that will unite everyone. Representatives from both parties shouldn't have any problem getting together and hammering out a solution. Of course, that would require them to actually get together though...
Kyle, I'm not suggesting that Ellison wasn't grouped into West's comment, but his comment certainly wasn't specific to Ellison at all. Peritz used Ellison as one example of a greater group of people.
Some argue that by West not refuting the Ellison correlation, he was agreeing with him. However, political interviews often contain questions that are are loaded with more than just a simple question. I don't exactly expect a respondent to pick apart each piece of the question and say, "...
