Robert, the poll you cite, and the relatively small number of participants surveyed in this poll, is only one of many polls conducted since the year 2000 where climate scientists are questioned to determine the scientific consensus on climate change. The other polls at the OSS Foundation link you refer to do include larger populations. Here is another link you may want to refer to that includes several additional polls.

One more thing, Robert. You might want to see what Phil Jones actually said in the statement he made about global warming since 1995.

And, here's a good graphic representation of what has been happening over the last 20...

Posted on 06/28/12 at 10:14 pm in response to Supreme Court health-care ruling: Sorting out what it means

What happens when healthy individuals become seriously ill? And because of this illness, the insurers jack the rates up so high that the individual can no longer afford the health insurance, or the health insurance is terminated altogether? Or, a pre-existing conditions exists? Unfortunately, this scenario happens all to frequently with the present outmoded health care/health insurance system.

So where does the responsibility lie in these cases? Perhaps there are a few in the one...

I found this report at the ConservAmerica website about local meteorologist Paul Douglas' perspective on climate change. Very interesting.

"Republican Meteorologist Says: Climate Change Is Real & Al Gore’s Got Nothing to Do With It.

Paul Douglas is a meteorologist by training, a Republican by conviction, and a Christian by faith. Paul Douglas believes that climate change is real, climate change is linked to carbon dioxide emissions, and conservatives should live up to the...

Don, I want to thank you for your informative and thought provoking reporting on environmental issues. As you mentioned, you have strived to draw the information for your articles from reliable, mainstream scientific sources. That is certainly a very sound starting point for any good reporting and follow-up discussions. And when there has been debate about these topics (which, of course, there always seems to have been!), I think you have also been quite fair when presenting and summarizing...

Regarding the comment by Mr. Rose, that “there is not a consensus among scientists on climate change nor it's causes”, this statement does not agree with the outcomes of the majority of polls/surveys taken over the past ten years of climate scientists. The overwhelming majority of these scientists strongly agree with the position that the mean surface temperature of our planet over the last 100 to 200 years has increased. And while complete agreement is perhaps not quite as strong with...

Here is a quote directly from Professor Lu;

Recently published climate research by Zunli Lu, a geochemist in the Department of Earth Sciences in Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences, has gone viral across the Internet by bloggers. A number of media outlets, including the Daily Mail and The Register, which are published in the United Kingdom, claim this research supports arguments that human-induced global warming is a myth. The claims, Lu says, misrepresent his work and...

Besides the complicated environmental impact questions that the issue of copper/nickel mining brings up, there is also a private property rights issue here that stares us in the face. As the Minnesota non-ferrous mineral rights statue 93.05 presently stands, a mining company, even a foreign owned company, could use the "eminent domain" provision of this law to condemn and seize private property for exploration or drilling purposes. And private property owners would have absolutely no...

Posted on 03/07/12 at 10:53 am in response to Mining on the Range: Half the story is half the truth

Let us suppose that the copper/nickel mining companies have somehow convinced enough of the folks on the appropriate governing agencies that the environmental risks are low, and mining is approved for northeast Minnesota. Let us also assume that the mining companies have convinced the same people that finances will be there so that if an environmental disaster does occur, the taxpayers of Minnesota are not left with the huge clean up expenses.

Even with the very best of intentions,...
