The horror!

Cut bloated pensions and benefits to levels that people who don't work for the nanny state can expect; stop linear thinking (more money = better outcomes); stop looking to the government to provide answers to everything.

The dumb liberal "sky is falling" crap is over, done, very 2008.

The Dems lost because the people finally had enough of being "asked" to fund more and more crap that they don't agree with. The Dems lost because government has become completely disconnected from the reality in which most people live.

The message is easy - get out of the way and stay out of the way.

Warm up the lawyers...revenge for Franken is going to be served.

If Dayton had a spine, he would walk away now. None of the things he wants are going to get thru the new House and Senate, so he is left with 4yrs to be an odd goof in the public eye...who would want that? If you are a D (DFL is dumb by the way) strategist, isn't it better to give it away now so that you can blame everything that happens from here on the (R)s and not a mixed government?

The House and Senate flip is amazing, simply amazing. I didn't vote for Dayton, but now that his most foolish ideas are DOA it might be fun to have the strange little man in office...at least it would be entertaining.

Dont fall for the fear - we don't need to raise taxes. The sky will not fall if government is forced to act like every other entity - within its means.

It is crazy sad how much people have been trained to believe that only government can do certain things. That is a recent issue. If you want government to control everything, then you have the choice to give up your decision making ability. I would rather not, and I am not alone...others should be able to give mine up for...

Yes, the "rich" (or people who don't need a handout) have to fund the pork. If you have any choice in the matter, why would you stay in MN after Dayton wins? People like Dayton (and his backers) assume linearity...if you are a few years away from retirement, a nice tax increase is probably enough to push you to exit today (more jobs GONE), if you are planning to start a business, why would you do it in a now higher tax state like MN (more jobs NEVER), if you "get" to fund the wasteful...

How is there any question? Mark Dayton is going to make us the most heavily taxes state in the union...taking more from the productive to subsidize everyone else. This works well as long as the productive keep on being the "revenue source" for endless spending and government expansion. This will be sad clown funny to watch...nobody wants to make the hard decisions, answer is always the same from career politicians - "more".

All of the posters who argue for continued assistance rely on the continuance of items that themselves should be debated...similar to most of the issues we face, the big items move the needle. If a community cannot sustain itself without constant hand outs from others that can, the answer is clear - save those that work and let the others try to fend for themselves...why sink the entire system in order to keep some folksy dreams alive.

How about this...raise property taxes and you are done, case closed. Cities like Minneapolis keep raising taxes because costs keep going up...people live elsewhere, in many cases, to avoid the taxes...yet they get the benefit of subsidies. The solution is easy - raise local property taxes. Why should residents of cities pay more in taxes to support themselves and even more to subsidize the choices other people make?

Cut the cord...why should the productove continue to bail out the unproductive? If you want services, you have to live in a place that supports the services that you want...there is no reason that self sufficient places should have to continue to pump bad after good to allow people to maintain what is a bad choice.
