Which is very real. . We are caught between a rock and a hard place, the need to not add to carbon dioxide levels, and the need to keep our economy and all such running - like food, shelter, transportation, etc. in a very short time window.

Our self-reservation makes us put on blinders to all the facts that are out there around us.

Let me clue you, your comment on 'a month of summer fun' is inappropriate - - you latched onto the fact that the author is a teach for america person - and made a few assumptions. Enough said.

we need to learn to take a few steps back and look at what we think of as progress. I remember as a grade schooler, when I first learned of the idea that we could become more productive - I had this mental image, of being 'drowned' in stuff - . And we have been.
We have need for fewer workers
Then because of that there are more people looking for the fewer jobs.
Then the ever bigger companies feel no need to pay the workers for their increased production

And the...

Regarding a study (very small) I read about some time back somewhere, that the lower the milkfat, the more poorly was the calcium absorbed. but, Many years ago, I also was wanting to lose weight - and my ex-husband and I ordered the diet platters. When we left the restaurant, the tummy was full, but we were still hungry!. Another reason for avoiding low or no fat salad dressings.. My current husband (of near w24 yrs) and I went on an Atkins type diet - and to keep my blood sugars down...

Wherein rig comes from a Scandinavian word, rigga - which is primarily nautical by definitions as in to rig the mast, sails and ropes to control a ship, and an oil rig, like other such rigging is a complex collection of support and working apparatus that is taken apart, down, etc, and reassembled as needed. The word is also used for anything such as a fishing rig and many other uses, a Big rig being the tractor and the trailers hooked together to haul freight around, the term rigging...

In that we, of necessity, are a very much larger and spread out country with vast distances between places, and also have a very pathetic mass transit, railroad and other systems. It is why we drive so much more and such long distances. In rural areas of this state and others, the car is about the only way to get around, and you have to drive long distances for just about everything.

Posted on 01/30/13 at 04:50 pm in response to Benghazi as metaphor: More lessons for our politicians

we are ignorant of them - In a country that has just undergone a revolution and thus is without an infrastructure or intelligence and most of the other governmental organizations we expect, gaining intelligence is very difficult at best. Most things can fly below the radar, simply because the IS NO radar. That is why, trying to find out exactly what happened took time. And to get any accurate answers did just that. Really now, people. Enough of this 'should have' business for...

Posted on 11/02/12 at 05:19 pm in response to Lockouts gain momentum as Minnesota employers seek upper hand

The management seems to have no idea what goes into a professional orchestral musician's education. They are the best of the best, and they want to pay them at such a low rate, and cut their wages in such a drastic manner???? An underpaid teacher can get more than they are offering some.! Some of their business decisions to offer extremely low unlimited ticket prices shows management's ignorance of the value of their product... I could go on, but....

Posted on 10/31/12 at 01:30 pm in response to Exploring the other vote-yes ad campaign

The papers should verify who placed these ads with are emotional and very questionable before publishing. What a mess! Marriage has never made the couple or others immune to straying and the passing on of social diseases. History is full of it. And accurate and clear sexual information does more to protect people than the old fashioned attitude that no information was the best, and if someone knew something about sexual physiology they, perforce, must not be a virgin. Happened to...
