MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Now that you've read the Cliff Notes version here, read the rest of the Bachmann story here:

She could always help sell some books:

I assume that new revenue stream would extend to us journalists who are doing more journalism on our blogs for free than MSM journalists are doing on newspapers? At least we'd get paid for the work that the MSM now steals from us.
What's particularly galling about Jeremy Herb's "reporting" of Bachmann's Planned Parenthood lies is that he didn't even bother to fact-check it in his Strib article. Herb merely reported Bachmann's lie and referenced the video upon which her lie was based, without ever noting that the video had been widely discredited as a phony setup. He even managed to spread Bachmann's smear via Twitter as well, with nary a correction. It's this type of rocking-chair reporting, as my friend Sally Jo...
Why is Bachmann devouring every book she can on the "darker side" of campaigns? Is she seeking guidance on how to hide things like affairs? What does Bachmann have to hide? Might have been a good question for a reporter to ask her.
As for campaign staff, Bachmann doesn't need campaign staff like Pawlenty and Romney. She has taxpayer-paid campaign staff on her congressional office. That's clear from the fact that she has three phone lines--and staffers to man them--answering calls...
• Another possible funding source included in the bill is a new Vikings-themed Minnesota Lottery game.
Sure, why not?
Why not? Because this is nothing more than stealing from the environment, which is what the lottery was originally intended to benefit. Every special Vikings lottery ticket whose proceeds go to prop up a stadium is money that would have been spent on lottery tickets that support environmental programs rather than billionaire sports team owners.
The disclaimer at the end pretty sums up what the explosion of (choose one--"new" "alternative" "online") media has meant for writers. Unfortunately, that attitude has crept into (choose one--"old" "legacy" "MSM") media as well.
When is the State Legislature going to repeal the exemption from the Data Practices Act it has carved out for itself? And likewise the exemption from FOIA that Congress has feathereed its nest with?
The WashPo writer has it wrong when she calls Michele Bachmann an "inexperienced congresswoman with a propensity for saying outlandish things could win the nomination."
Bachmann told an interviewer this week that she was a "United States Senator."

Funny. I didn't see the most important constituency's opinion here--consumers. But if you were only looking for those who oppose this law, that's probably because you'll find virtually no consumers opposed to it. The only people opposed to it are the ones spending millions of dollars to protect their own nicely-feathered nest.
Look at lobbying expenses like protection money for the mob. They pay off the politicians, and they'll protect their cozy little liquor fiefdom. It's not likely...
