MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I'm glad someone is fighting this. What a terrible rule. The work isn't easier because the person being cared for is a family member. Often it is harder.
They forgot to add "We are laying off union staff to hire new Assistant Commissioners and other high paying staff."
I had high hopes for this administration, but it has been nothing but a disappointment.
August 12. That's the date of my next paycheck. I have my budget planned out, but I doubt I'll make it with the money in my bank account. And every penny of that check, and the next, is going into the bills I'm delaying paying. It is going to be tough well into October.
I figure I lost about $1100 dollars during the shutdown. If they just would have taxed the richest 2%, those people would have lost something like $750 a year, which is a much smaller percentage of their income.
The Dayton email was an email from my employer. While he is an elected official, he is ultimately my main boss. The Zellers email was an email from a politician. State employees do not answer to Reps or Senators unless they specifically pass legislation asking for specific things. It was not different than if a private citizen sent a political email to State employees, except that he used State resources to do so. It was totally inappropriate and it was insulting.
The Human Services numbers are a little off. There was a calculation error in the court document, according to an email from our Commissioner, and it will be 4300 critical at DHS.
I'll point out that the union has six weeks of funds available, money that is supposed to be for a strike. BUT, our union contract also ends June 30th and we have nothing in place and negotiations aren't really happening. While a strike is VERY unlikely, there is always a possibility, but our union would not have the money to function if it were to happen. This whole thing is a complete cluster...
Co-workers, get your Federal student loans in forbearance now. It is easy and you can resume paying when this whole thing is fixed. It doesn't hurt your credit and will save you one fixed payment for the duration.
No one knows what services will be stopped. In my agency I could tell you the huge number of things that COULD be stopped, but some may be deemed essential. So no one can say one way or another at this point what will be shut down.
Another big problem with this is it is dated and inaccurate. One of the properties listed I purposely walked by tonight. People clearly living in it, not condemned, not foreclosed on. It was sold to one of my neighbors and they are renting it out. I hope no one thinks they can squat/steal/vandal and surprises the people living there.
Meanwhile, the condemned and empty, but not yet foreclosed on home right next door to me is not on the list. I'm super glad it isn't. And my neighbors...
Perfect. Let's map the properties so the people who go in and gut properties for copper and architectural treasures don't have to search themselves, they can just look at the map. I don't believe I'll be helping out with this project.
