Rep. Murphy needs to take a deep breath--because voter disenfranchisement is exactly the intent of this proposed constitutional amendment. And no one should pretend otherwise.

NO ONE is talking about what this does to absentee balloting--how are you going to show your valid id when you are voting absentee by mail, as many overseas military members are doing?
Or seniors who are nursing home residents and are homebound?

NO ONE is talking about the fact that military ids...

Not everyone is as tolerant of dissent as the Governor. RT Rybak was conspicuous in his absence from yesterday's May Day parade--an event he never misses. I guess if you can't stand the heat. .. . .

Posted on 05/04/12 at 10:08 am in response to Dayton vetoes 'teacher seniority' bill

Some of the money spent to push this bill seems to have been poured down the rat hole. I received a phone call YESTERDAY from a group called Students First, urging me to contact my legislators and the governor to support this bill. It's suppose to improve our students testing rates in math and science, or so I was told when I said this only opens the door for teachers to get retaliation for their advocacy for students and teachers. They were either using a very poor script or they had...

Gee, that sounds like alot of the prescription medication ads I hear on television--the medication can have an effect on a medical problem, testimonials by actors as to the wonderful effects of the medication on their medical condition, etc. Then there are the recall notices and class action lawsuits on these supposedly tested and approved prescription medications.. . . .

Seems to me the FDA is not doing a good job with what they already have on their plate, and you wonder why...

So no more Macy's 24 hours of music, huh?

Posted on 04/11/12 at 05:05 pm in response to With nary a stadium mention, Rybak address focuses on North Minneapolis

Well, RT, you've just figured this out? That as the Northside goes, so goes the City. Some of us having been saying that for, oh, twenty years or more. But hey, we just live here, why would you take our word for it?

Given the facts that you have gutted the City's small business setaside program, have done little or no contract compliance on City funded construction projects, and just nominated your former press secretary as the head of the City's development agency, to quote Nat...

There is another reason for these speeches--they set the record for legislative intent. This is important in cases of court challenges, which is likely to happen here. Also for the future implementation legislation (also subject to court challenges) should the amendment pass.

I don't lose any Constitutional right if I chose not to pay by check, check into a hotel, or transport by airplane. I do lose a Constitutional right if I'm barred from voting because my driver's license just...

Protect your vote fom what? From being cast and counted?

Posted on 04/05/12 at 05:30 pm in response to Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson explains U.N. flag removal

Last time I looked, Minnesota was still part of the United States of America. And the good ol' USA is a member of the United Nations. That seems to fly in the face of your assertion.

Remember that oath you took about upholding the Constitution and laws of the U.S.? I think treaties are covered under that as well. Might want to check that out.

Of course, if Hennpin County has no vested interest in world peace, this action make perfect sense. Joe--could we have a breakdown...

Recently in Minneapolis, a man (carrying with a valid permit) shot a suspect who was attempting to rob a woman at knife point in a public place. The Hennepin County attorney's office declined to prosecute him.

What we've got seems to work just fine.
