MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
You used the word "affected." I think it's more a case of ego. Kerri Miller is the anti-Eichten. She can't last a single interview without talking about herself and her own highly regarded opinions.
Whether it's Kling, or Collins, Crann, or Miller -- they all seem to be "affected" with an enlarged feeling of self importance. They often sound more pretentious than even the national public radio personalities. MPR should go back to basics and stick to regional news and culture....
I agree with Paul. Raise the fuel tax high enough to pay for the road system (and law enforcement!) that it requires. Higher cost of fuel will force people to slow down and reconsider frivolous driving.
Few people who actually live next to a sugar beet field would support Crystal Sugar, even before this lockout. The chemical sprays in the summer air, the suicidal beet trucks on the autumn roads, the dirt storms in the winter winds, etc.
Sugar beet farming is a highly questionable form of landuse. We have some of the richest soil on Earth here in the Red River basin, and we are wasting it away on something with little nutritional value and significant ecological consequences.
