So it is like at Disney. I've been to Disney World and Disney land with the kids. Strongest impression: the lines, the waiting, the snaking around lines. STRONGLY NEGATIVE IMPRESSION. FAIL.
If I were in an urban area with little choice for groceries, I might like to get my groceries at Target. But the Target I shop at is near to two very nice large grocery stores. In my opinion, my Target is a worse store since the grocery section expanded. Space was taken away from having more...
My two daughters and my daughter-in-law all gave birth within the last couple of years, in different states. All were "pushed into" interventionist labor management and all suffered from complications that can be directly linked to the interventions, such as labor being slowed way down after being given the epidural anesthesia, infection due to having multiple internal monitors, excessive tearing, severe bladder complications. Why do I seem so judgmental? Because the doctor who delivered...
Many of these comments have concerned the press' responsibility in calling out the lies and misstatements of candidates. The press does bear responsibility because except for a few people, none of the rest of us can attend all the campaign speeches and get first hand information. We have to rely on the press. The reporters and editors could do MUCH better at pointing out statements that don't match reality. Too many of the news shows give about as much time to a political speech (about...
I've helped immigrants (refugees)learn English, one-on-one. It is an enriching experience. The people were so glad to have skills to be more integrated into the community. I believe that our immigrants enrich our country and culture. They tend to be hard working and make do with less as a way to pursue the American dream without just buying it.
Where I've run into some trouble understanding immigrants has been when the immigrants have learned English in their native country, as...
I know that I don't have full blown prosopagnosia, but I sure have life long problems putting names and faces together. And I don't remember faces unless I know the people really well over a long period of time. It is more than just not remembering names. I didn't know I was unusual until I adopted a child who has an astonishing ability to know names and faces. I would ask him for help when he was as young as 4 years old. This condition led to social problems and isolation when I was a...
Who would vote for Pawlenty? I don't know anybody in Minnesota who thinks he has done a good job. But I give him credit, he is the only Republican who has to guts to on the liberal leaning TV shows. But he doesn't have the guts to fix the budget crisis in Minnesota.
Ok Tom, so be in favor of building the new school. That will not only provide jobs, it will gets the kids out of the bad building they are currently in, plus there will be the possibility of more class choices.
After a pastor-blogger of another denomination posted a piece that said that the tornado proved that God was judging the Lutheran, there were about 300 commenters. Remarks were all over the place, including some that didn't reflect Christian values. But the comments were closed down after a pastor, under his own name, called the original blogger to task for his statements as being not supported by scripture and science.
There is a major doctor shortage across the whole US. How will these clinics be staffed? I believe there is also a shortage of nurse practitioners as well.
The VA is increasing the number of clinics in communities. One of the cabinet secretaries has called for more doctors on Indian Reservations. Where do they expect to get these doctors?
Many doctors are on the verge of retirement, which won't help the situation.
Don't forget those who work full time but can't afford the health care insurance package "offered" by their employer. Then when they are laid off, they aren't eligible for Cobra insurance no matter the cost. And another concern: employers are urging, with incentives, "older" workers to retire early. They may be offered a health insurance package for two years. But then what? They are still too young for Medicare, but they are in the higher health cost era of their lives.
