MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.

I always have heard "hotdish" defined as meat/fish/beans and pasta/rice/potatoes bound together with cream of something soup and baked in the oven until a crust forms. I don't think Chippy's qualifies!
"I don't know how a state goes about creating an army of entrepreneurs like these, but I know it would be a very cool thing"
I can think of two ways off the top of my head: 1) Charter a state bank ala North Dakota. Run and designed properly, it would both provide loans for start-ups but a return for state coffers. 2) Institute single-payer, universal health care. Half of all bankruptcies are related to medical costs. Anecdotal evidence suggests that lack of medical coverage is a...
Despite Swift's alternate reality spin of the exchange, the interaction between Newt and the crowd on this most recent piece of nastiness just underlines for me how incredibly ugly these "debates" have been. I don't know whether the people on stage or the people in the audience have been worse . . . from applauding how many people Texas execute to cheering when an audidience member shouted "let him die!" it seems the entire Republican party has finally reaped the evil step-sister's curse:...
#13, Bill - I'm afraid we can't get along because we, apparently, live in two different realities. My "liberal" (as defined by Swift) world view is "scary smart and reality based" and, his "conservative" (does Swift know what that means any more than "liberal?") world view is, apparently, not.
Like #3, I too am bemused by how anyone can think of MPR as being liberal. False equivalences and "Balance," re: global warming, the source and timing of our federal debt, and David Brooks' pronouncements are thick upon the ground over there.
And, I too listen to AM 950. Along with the opinion, there's a good deal of "news" -- at least if you ascribe to fact based reality and not the alternate universe promulgated by Fox/GOP TV.
What's left is the truth.
#3 I wish I thought you were right, but I expect she'll run for Congress again. What other option does she have? I suppose it's possible God will tell her to run against Klobuchar, but I can't believe that even she's delusional enough to think she can win state-wide against a center right candidate like Klobuchar. That leaves either two years 'til Franken, which she may as well spend in the House -- unless Fox comes through with a cushy consultant's offer.
#5 She has until June to file for the house.
#2 - it certainly appears as if the TP is strangling Boehner right about now
I take it this is the same Cullen Sheehan who conducted himself so well in Normie's last campaign . . . ah, Suitgate and simpler times
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it, Zoey #3, note it says house republicans don't want to deail with the stadium until after the election. I suspect all those freshment don't want to run on "gettin 'er done" for Ziggy after their constituents have seen their property tax bills and know that the Legislature directly caused any increase by changing the calculation method.
