My reading of the story led me to conclude that, in order to write an equitable account, Ms. Hawkins should have spent more time listening to Mr. Williams. His views seem to have been shortchanged.

Another related issue seems to deserve investigation.

We saw a headline in the Strib today about the piles of money the RNC fed into the Twin Cities economy.

I seriously doubt that any effort was made to subtract the immense cost of extra "law enforcement" (an obvious misnomer in this instance), legal and court time, not to mention the cost of settlements that seem inevitable for people improperly "enforced."

He then would have recognized Dr. Gates...

Thanks, Jay, for an excellent summary of an outstanding report by a highly competent and varied citizens panel that obviously was professionally staffed.

I pray thanks to the God of Abraham, Jacob and the followers of Jesus and of Muhammed for the presence in our Congressional delegation of Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum. The behavior of other Minnesota political leaders - and, indeed, of virtually the entire U.S. House of Representatives, excepting Ellison and McCollum - is embarrassing.

I am also grateful for my friend, Lisa Albrecht, whose refreshing message appeared in Saturday's MinnPost.

How can we not be disturbed by...
