No, I'd say anyone who has a small bone of fiscal sanity should be the most dismayed with this bill. That the GOP put forth a 12% budget increase is unconscionable. Why would we bother to work for the reelection of any of the irresponsible legislators? Time to clean house again.
Have these politicians seen the pictures of the dead babies, the boy being abducted by troops? I understand Franken, etc, but how can the supposedly pro-life politicians be in on this?
Excellent analysis, Craig.
I may not have watched McCain's speech tonight had I not been wired to a chair in front of monitors as a panelist to comment pre- and post-speech. Or if I had, I may not have watched with such a critical eye. But I was required to analyze.
It occurred to me that the real danger of a big-government candidate who couldn't summon up the word "Constitution" even once in his speech wasn't four years of his rule; it was the acceptance at the RNC -- worse...
Uh, Jeff, responsible journalists don't perpetrate garbage rumors. That's why that stuff isn't in this or other reputable publications.
My recollection is that the RP national delegates got roughly 100 votes each out of the 300 in attendance. Out of 90 candidates, that's a pretty strong plurality.
For the record, at least one candidate for delegate told me he was asked if he would support McCain. The candidate specified, "after the endorsement" meaning nomination, and the Nom Com guy said, "I'll put that down as a 'yes'." So there was a bit of confusion over the question.
