MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I guess pretty is a good word for Fleet Foxes but I was too busy flashing back to Crosby Stills Nash and whatever to notice.
Mostly though I'd love to see someone break down your list to see if any of your faves were ever actually played on local radio. Hate to be a pessimist, but I think taste and broadcasting can no longer be used in the same sentence.
I don't think it's at all odd that this scandal hasn't gone national. 90% of the political sex scandals in the national media are pushed by Republicans to smear Democrats, or by Republicans to smear other Republicans. You simply cannot be pro-gay marriage, then snipe at someone for engaging in marital pluralism.
Yes, plenty of MN lefties, myself included, have had a laugh at Amy Koch's expense this last week, but those laughs are 100% tied to her vehement anti-gay marriage position....
I don't understand why you people are trying to tie this to the same-sex marriage thing."
Maybe because "you people" base your opposition to gay marriage on what it says in the Bible? And maybe because the Bible also says not to cheat on your wife, especially not with a married woman who has her own family?
Is there like some kind of secret rightwing Bible code that tells you which Commandments you get to ignore, and which you have to go to war over? Because I really don't...
Kudos to Mr. Swift for turning a comments thread about Republican leaders hetero-sexing each other into a debate over gay sex.
And bonus points since the Strib and other local media are already "tired" of this story and moving on, leaving MinnPost one of the few local news outlets following up on the hypocrisy.
Minnesota Republican leaders get Biblical over gay marriage. Is it any surprise that those who see themselves as political and spiritual leaders would go for the King...
I'm sure I'm a bad example (and not just in this regard), but I don't need the Strib. The PiPress is still free (funny how ad-based models are now "free") and what they miss MinnPost usually covers, in The Glean if nowhere else.
I don't need to read Katherine Kersten. I don't need to read wire stories I can find elsewhere for free. I don't need to pay for WaPost content that's still free at the Washington Post. Etc.
Just last week I "discovered" that the News feed offered by...
Matt, I tried your trick but it just gave me a list of Strib links. Maybe they closed this loophole right after you posted but really, I'm not missing the Strib. The fifteen free articles a month is more than enough to satisfy my need for their particular brand of "local" content.
But thanks for waking me up to the fact that I can customize my Calibre News feeds. I think my RSS feeds are all about to migrate over to Calibre....
Racinos won't be enough. But a few more tweaks and I think they can build their stadium if we just do the following:
• License and tax prostitutes
• Legalize and tax illegal drug sales
• Allow convicted felons to buy their way out of prison
• Sell permits to allow drivers to ignore speed limits
• Allow parimutuel betting on all sports events in the state from middle school track meets to Vikings games
And let the same marketing geniuses who flog the...
I suspect the responses to Tice's live chats will stay friendly: the Strib's registration system now kicks you off once you've read ten articles (you still have five "free" articles to go but you can't comment without being registered).
I don't know that that's the new policy, but this morning I got a pop up telling me I needed to reregister (with money this time) and then the pop up refused to go away until I logged out of my free account.
I don't begrudge the Strib their...
Walsh deserves low grades. I live in Midway and they have made next to no effort to let people know from day to day which intersections they'll shut down. and they have done NOTHING to stop the selfish few from tying up one-lane intersections by turning left (something that should have been routinely prohibited but which to the best of my knowledge Walsh failed to do anywhere but at Snelling and University).
Once I was so fed up with a sign telling me Raymond was closed when it wasn'...
Bad Max! Don't you know ABC isn't permitting the media to interview Johnny Depp about anything but Pirates of the Caribbean Part IV?!
