Really, Mr. Udstrand? I've "seriously misinterpreted Bob Dylan?" Where did I say Dylan was a country music artist? He certainly dabbled in it, from "John Wesley Harding" in '68 and his subsequent sojourn to Nashville, which was some 4 years after he essentially left folk music behind. Or have you not heard about the breaking news of Dylan's appearance with electric guitars at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival and the subsequent outrage that greeted that performance, some 47 years ago now? Dylan...

Thanks for reading, Bernice. One thing to note: all the senators serve on multiple committees. Goodwin's neighboring senator, Pam Wolf, is the chief author of 20 bills and co-author of over 50. You are confusing activity with productivity.

Posted on 03/21/12 at 05:49 pm in response to ID'ing the problem: What's really behind opposition to Voter ID

First, thanks to all for your comments. This is the first post of what I expect will be several on the topic, so it should be viewed as an introduction more than anything else.

Thomas says:

I have yet to see any data that shows voter fraud from illegal immigrants is a big issue. I would gladly read any article out there that shows this.

Minnesota Public Radio reported the following last year:

Based on independent information, it appears that Minnesota Majority's...

No surprise at all. Bennett drew a challenger named Jim Schotmuller in the last cycle and almost lost his seat then. I suspect that ol' Tony was planning to ram this thing through and then retire. The Vikings stadium was supposed to the capstone to his long career, but it's not looking so good now.

Good post, Erik. The term "moral hazard" goes back a long time -- I first heard it in college back in the early 1980s, but I'd imagine it goes back much further than that.

Bernice, you are correct -- it certainly isn't written anywhere that the Vikings must be given everything they want. All I've been trying to say throughout the series of articles is this -- we need to decide how much the Vikings are worth to us.

Hiram, I don't know that the good people of Ramsey County are eager to pay for a new stadium. But I do know that if 4 of the 7 members of the Ramsey County board are eager to make the citizens of Ramsey County pay, so we shall.

Swiftee, it's hard to argue the point.

Richard, I agree with that, too.

MSM = mainstream media, such as the newspapers, old line television networks, etc. The Star Tribune is MSM, as is CBS. The blogosphere, not so much.

Hope that helps -- thanks for asking!

Thank you for your comments, Mr. Davis.

1) Why can't the Vikings pay their own way? Well, they can. But they don't have to. So they won't.

2) Somehow I suspect the governor won't be especially concerned about some penny-ante blogger giving him a shot about his speech patterns. The shot was meant more for Zygmunt Wilf anyway.

3) Why should taxpayers give a for-profit football team money? They shouldn't. But some taxpayers will, somewhere. To paraphrase the former governor...

Thanks for the kind words, Will. Appreciate the support. I also appreciate the suggestion to leave town, which was a nice touch. Now that we've gotten the niceties out of the way, let's get to the actual point of the post.

You don't provide cites for your statistics, but I'll stipulate that they are true for the sake of argument. So do you believe that the statistics you cite are true and that 70-80% of Minnesotans would be okay with the Vikings pulling up stakes? Because that's the...
