"[Sen. Klobuchar] believes we need to address concerns being raised today and work out a compromise that balances free exchange on the Internet with stopping foreign piracy that hurts our economy,”
Wonderful. The concerns being raised about censorship and security, as well as kowtowing to their corporate masters who don't have a clue about how to profit from greater distribution of their "content" mean that we have to "compromise" to preserve our already Constitutional guarantee of...
This whole opinion piece is merely an exercise in trying to ramp up fear based on the possible, rather than the probable.
Just because something could happen doesn't mean that it will happen, so trying to guarantee against that is an exercise in futility. Life carries inherent risks, and to ignore that fact in an effort to deny that something may happen at any time, anywhere is pure insanity. If we want to protect ourselves against all possibilities, then we would ban cars, swimming,...
Best Buy is failing because they have nobody in management who can think objectively, much less observe and admit retail trends.
They're still focused on trying to sell everything to everyone, and we've seen that doesn't work in retail anymore. The stores are cavernous, noisy, and filled with competing products that can't easily be differentiated except by price, and price is not a measure of quality, reliability, or satisfaction that consumers can use. Likewise, cutting out the noise...
‘I'm tired of driving to Brookdale, the courtroom everyone who knows agrees is the most likely place for a shooting or violence to occur, and not know whether I will be carried out in a body bag that day,’
Apparently Zimmerman likes to ignore facts in favor of hyperbole. If we use empirical data, the facts clearly show that he, like anyone else, is many times more likely to be killed crossing the street or in a car accident than he is to be shot in a courtroom. But because he chooses...
"They are in a business where their IT department could give them a competitive advantage but a few years ago, in a cost cutting move, they out-sourced their entire IT department."
Actually, that was more than 10 years ago. But it shows the short-sighted mindset of your garden-variety executives: "Hey, we can save millions if we send all this work overseas to India where they get paid 1/10th what we pay our own staff, and we can use the savings to pad our own salaries!"
Of...
"Polls are showing that even caucus goers who have committed to a candidate say they could change their mind."
Uh… that's a contradiction of logic. The definition of 'committed' is that you have made your choice and that you aren't going to change your mind. So it's impossible for caucus-goers to be 'committed' but still able to change their mind.
I'm surprised you didn't catch that obvious flaw, Brian.
This is just wrong. Don't they know they're disrupting the space-time continuum, with unknown, potentially disastrous consequences in the future?
How are we going to manage the chronometric particle emissions from the future? Once they reach critical mass, we'll all be sent forward in time, without any control as to where, or when, we arrive and no way to get back.
So when she loses badly, will the 'miracle' be tears of blood?
Your Terms of Use regarding comments is not clear at all; it's deliberately vague. Refusing to identify exactly what would get a comment not posted is standard fare for MinnPost. And if you are going to reject a comment based on the personal opinion of the moderator(s), you have a duty to inform the person that made the comment; i.e., you need to email them with the full comment and identify exactly what you think makes it unacceptable. I'm not surprised Amy Klobuchar voted for this blatantly unconstitutional bill. She's always been one to believe that giving the government more power will somehow make everything okay, but history has shown in every instance that any new power granted to the government will be, and has been, abused.
Amy wants everyone to believe that there's a terrorist around every corner, and that only by giving the government new Orwellian powers can we be safe from those scary terrorists.
