I find it astonishing that the marketing/advertising department would attach the newspaper editor's name to a piece of advertising (or to any other material published in her newspaper) without her knowledge or consent. What were they thinking?

While I understand this is a statewide ad, I am disappointed that not one of the pro-recall speakers is listed as being from Sen. Sheila Harsdorf's 10th Senate district; she, of course, is one of those being targeted for recall and a primary reason the ad is running in the Twin Cities market.
The Memorial Service was carried live on Wisconsin Public Television for those of us with cable in western Wisconsin. I presume it was statewide.
The irony of Coleman losing a fellowship named after Eugene McCarthy is jaw-droppingly amazing. Given the circumstances, I doubt that McCarthy himself could qualify for one of his own fellowships...
Building on what Brenda said, a solid, Internet-based, news-gathering operation here in far western Wisconsin would be most welcome for this reader and retired UW-River Falls journalism prof. The Pioneer Press has one reporter assigned to these western Wisconsin counties (Pierce, St. Croix, Polk, primarily) and assigns more for the occasional big story, but otherwise readers here are dependent on local weeklies. The Star Tribune seems to cross the St. Croix River only when a big story...
