MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Sharon, your story reminded me of trying to explain 1, walking on frozen water, and 2, ice fishing to guides in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. They just didn't get it and clearly thought that people in Minnesota were completely nuts.
Agree that Marlys Harris' article is more cant than fact, which is unfortunate because the subject lot is an eyesore and a waste at present, and I'm curious as to what actual barriers there are to a sensible, cool development. A "land use expert" who won't go on the record with what amount to legal opinions? Run away.
Is a "pay wall" a gate on a paper's website where you have to shove gold coins through a crack to get to the other side?
Thanks for an important, disturbing report on the school board's apparently poorly thought-out plan, Steve.
I'm one of those soft God is good types and find the sermonads a bit cheesy, but two words on: First Amendment. It's a business decision by the Twins/KSTP whether they want to take the church's money.
(Disclosure: I am a MPR contributor, so I feel a little freer to critique than I might otherwise; and yes, Joel, I will consider contributing to MinnPost as I get into it more -- though I am hoping the blogomments are not rife with contribution requests!)
I note that Steve Nelson's memo doesn't mention *why* staff would promote the site, what's going to be good about it or what it will offer. Perhaps that was delivered in different format. I've never found MPR's website particularly...
