The Johnnie/Tommie game should be a good one. I have a freshman nephew at St. John's who scored a touchdown in the johnnies first game. My father-in-law was a Johnnie. Claims to have been kicked off an early Gagliardi team and allowed back on. So that is the Johnnie connection.

I on the other hand am a '69 grad of St. Thomas that regularly deals with the comments after a Tommie loss.

Ah Joe! We may not have a St. Catherine's Academy, but we had a St. Joeseph's (St. Joes) Academy that was located in the general area. It closed around the time of book's setting.

BTW: Derham Hall was the prep school located at St. Kate's until the early/mid '60s. It then moved to a site next to Cretin and eventually merged with same.

Jason Hitchcock says it pretty well. However, the Legislature should set a standard of accuracy and also include a penalty for falsely accusing a candidate, party or campaign of wrong doing. They should also ban coordinated efforts to get voters to file claims.

If Charlie Weaver and Phil Krinkie are correct then the Minnesota budget should have a surplus component.

However, both of these men were in office when we had budget surpluses. What did they and their colleagues, including Tim Pawlenty do? They supposedly gave it back to the taxpayers.

Unfortunately, we have had years and years of government cuts so Pawlenty didn't have to raise taxes and he could cut the taxes of the rich. Now we have to pay the piper.

This isn't the first time the DFL blew an election. They did it two years ago in the Governors race. Many DFL Central committee members didn't really want to support Mike Hatch. Some even admitted voting for him while plugging their nose. They certainly weren't actively campaigning for him.

I blame the DLF insiders for Madia's loss and the close Senate race. I blame Rep McCollum and other DFL women leaders who, after Fanken's endorsement attempted to get him to drop out of the...

Interesting comments so far. Mostly political.

I think that if someone is holding a press conference, advisory or what ever they want to call it, they should be obligated to allow all credentialed journalists, Barring anyone for reasons of political bias seems to change the event from a conference to promotion event.

Unfortunately, we have seen the administration bar the public from publicly paid for appearances and main stream reporters from their press conferences. This...
