MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Mr. Frankin - I say you need to take go back to New York and run against Mrs. Clinton in two years in a few years; Minnesota does not need, want, or desire you to represent you in the Senate. Please, go home!
I like this idea...we'd have four years of pain...maybe even "god help us" eight - but then we'd be done with Jim "I never saw a pork project I didn't like" Oberstar...hopefully!
John, as much as I'd hate to agree with you, you're probably right. But by the same token, if the situation was reversed, we wouldn't be looking at a $935 million budget deficit, we wouldn't see the largest tax increase in the state's history, and we'd be taking productive steps to getting fiscal responsibility back on track in this state...so, I guess we get what we pay for...or vote for.
It is hard to believe that we raised taxes, and the next day the senate passes a $1 billion dollar bonding bill that goes to light rail, bike trails, hockey arenas, etc. The 2010-11 biennium budget is $35 billion, $24 billion goes to K-12 education and Health and Human services ($13 & $11 billion respectfully). Perhaps, Ms. Tinglestad, you should have voted for wiser spending practices before taking more money from the taxpayers.
Secondly, only about 25% of this "User Fee"...
