While Bradlee Dean’s controversial prayer is not a surprise, since he has a long track record of offensive rhetoric, what followed was dismaying in a different and incompetent way. It was extremely unfortunate that the current House Chaplain St. Dennis fumbled and failed to respond to this ludicrous prayer. If clergy, rabbis, and imams refuse to challenge the ideas of one of their own, perhaps someone like Rep. Terry Morrow might consider adding Chaplain to his responsibilities.
