The proposed fare increase seems weak at any rate. Gas prices are indeed up, but the expense increase is probably more than covered by the increase revenue from extra riders per trip.

It would be fun to try the 25¢ (or even 50¢) for a couple of weeks to see the impact it would have on ridership and traffic.

Sorry I came to this late, it is a fun idea. I agree with at least one other person that the list is way too heavy on sports (ex: it is extremely debatable whether the Twins are worse off with Gomez than Santana this year let alone what the future brings on that trade; now Drew Pearson pushing down Nate Wright is another matter!). Too many current events too; honestly, is anybody going to know who Kathleen Soliah is/was in a decade? Or remember who Fred Smoot was? Or anything about the Dick...
