MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Obama? Hard left? Really?
One third of the stimulus was tax cuts. The Affordable Care Act PRESERVED private, for profit health insurers, unlike a what single payer plan would have done. No mega banks were broken up, much less nationalized, no one went to jail, and very tepid Wall Street reforms were passed. The Administration spent no time or capital on card check authorization for union organizing campaigns.
If I ever had any respect for Krauthammer before, I have none now....
I'm pretty sure that, under Title IX, it has to be as big as the arena the Woofies play in. Yup, real sure of that.
Now that Paulitites have assumed control of the party, surely the next convention will be held a a privately financed, owned, and operated convention facility. Oh yeah, and no driving on public roads to get there.
You say Paul is not getting his money "from Large banking institutions, and super packs (sic)", like that's a bad thing. For one, corporations are people too, you know. Just ask that flaming liberal-socialist Scalia. Second, since spending one's hard earned dollars is speech, I don't know why you want to paint those job creators in such a harsh light.
Are all of these Ron Paul folks into this "class envy"? If so, maybe they should just get to work and create their own wealth. Just...
Apparently I'm the only MinnPost commenter who never liked Gary Eichten. Bland, milquetoast, and boring, that's what comes to mind when I hear a mention of him. And that goes double for state convention coverage. I don't imagine any state-wide candidate ever feared an interview with Gary.
With all due respect to the hale fellow, well met, I enjoy MPR's late morning programing much better these days.
Most stadiums that are constructed across the US are financed by bonds whose interest is free from income taxes. I'm guessing that will be the case with the Vikes stadium here. It makes no difference to US tax payers if a new NFL or MLB stadium is built in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, or Toledo. Allowing the federal treasury to be scammed this way should be stopped. If the Tea Party is anything other than a corporate shill, it will demand this of it's politicians. Don't hold your breath.
Southwest Minnesota sends a lot of conservative Republicans to the legislature. I wonder how they voted a few years back when the gas tax was raised. Or do they expect low taxes AND good roads? I'd like to have my cake and eat it, too.
Maybe because there is a conservative echo chamber but not a liberal echo chamber?
I've heard and read references to "the State", "the City of Minneapolis" and "the Vikings". I still don't know who "the builder" is who is responsible for cost overruns. To me a "builder" is a general contractor.
The PiPress article does not put Sweeny's Saloon in "Downtown" Saint Paul. Was it put there by an Edina based MinnPost columnist who no longer gets to Saint Paul since he longer works there? I'm pretty sure Sweeny's is still up on Dale Street.
