The lack of interest in politics is not surprising. When one sees the population get fired up and give the White House and large majorities in the House and Senate to the Dems who proceed to do almost nothing on key issues such as health care and jobs, politics does not exactly seem like a good use of time. It occurs to me that most who do well in life seem ti largely ignore politics. That might be a good example for the rest of us to follow.

Posted on 01/28/10 at 06:25 pm in response to Franken urges House to pass Senate health bill, and fix it later

Good for Franken for speaking out for the middle class. There is a good reason 70% of USA citizens support a strong public option. As a medical practitioner in New England Journal of Medicine wrote, the great majority of American want all of our citizens to have access to quality, affordable health care and we want better stewardship of our health care resources. There is no reason we should pay twice as much for health care as other nations and have worse outcomes. There also is not...

This issue with pensions is not likely to cost Rybak much support. Caucus goers are a savvy bunch and will not be swayed by sob story mailings. In fact, the mailings could back fire.

What will cause problems for Rybak are his expenditures on water fountains and the more recent budget cuts. Here's what MPR wrote about Rybak's ten very artistic water fountains:

"Rybak's water fountain plan draws some questions, July 24, 2008: Earlier this week, the city of Minneapolis...

Posted on 01/30/10 at 08:31 pm in response to Klobuchar, Franken differ on Obama spending freeze

Amy Klobuchar loves, loves, loves Joe Lieberman. Amy must have asked Joe Lieberman for permission to take her position. While Franken tries to think about what Minnesotans actually need, Klobuchar smooches up to Joe Liberman or her rich lobbyist friends.

It's time for Amy to go. Let's hope in 2012 we are free this pathetic serpent. She sold us out on health care and now seems determined to finish the kill.

Marsha Pitts-Phillips, Public Relations Manager for the United Way, took the time to tell us that executive salaries at the United Way are set by a board of directors as if we did not already know. Amazing! I wonder how much it cost the United Way to pay Ms. Pitts-Phillips' salary and benefits while she provided this unneeded information? Wouldn't that money have been better used to buy food for hungry Twin Citians? I'm guessing a hungry senior citizen could have eaten for a long time...

Posted on 01/22/10 at 07:56 pm in response to Campaign-spending ruling could play out in state, local races

I'm not sure that this new Supreme Court ruling matters. After seeing the wads of cash Klobuchar and Franken both want to hand to the big insurance and drug corporations, via the Senate's version of the health care ripoff bill, who believes the politicians have not already been bought?

Consider the evidence. Where's the real reform in the Senate bill that about 70% of citizens want? We want affordable and quality care for all of our citizens, but Klobuchar and Franken help hand us...

Posted on 01/21/10 at 11:58 am in response to The filibuster and rendering America ungovernable

I'm afraid that any party that comes up with a candidate as vile and evil as Coakley does not deserve a super majority. I hope everyone reads up on the terrible judgment Coakley has exercised in the past--for example, releasing on his personal recognizance a man who allegedly molested a toddler with a curling iron. (He was later found guilty.)

Also, Brown is quite progressive. Probably more so than Obama. He supports the Massachusetts health care plan which mandates purchase of...

Posted on 01/21/10 at 12:15 pm in response to Could some areas of health-reform consensus still move forward?

The appalling behavior of senators such as Amy Klobuchar who has really sold out the middle class on the health care reform issue is a big part of the problem. No one trusts any of these manipulating politicians. (I voted for Amy I'm embarrassed to say.) I think Amy is preparing for a job as an insurance corp exec when she is no longer in the Senate. She certainly supported using the health care reform issue to give insurance corp execs a windfall.

Somehow we need to find a way to...

Posted on 01/21/10 at 07:17 pm in response to Now what? Minnesota's delegation has many views

Wow, it is hard to believe Franken thinks the Senate bill is a good bill. LOL. I voted for Franken but his assessment of the Senate bill makes me believe I made a mistake.

The Senate bill with it's varied plans is a laugh. The Senate bill is the way to shuffle the poor into lousy plans with lousy care. And, of course, women are the ones who are usually poor so the Senate plan is terrible for women.

Howard Dean said we should do something simple like expanding Medicare and...
