MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
Ross, if your point is that the article referred to the present Congresspeople by the districts they represent and the look of the proposed district they would be in, most of us do not need to have explicit what we already know. Other than that, don't you agree that this is a good explanation in understandable terms of a very complex subject? Your quotation marks are offensive to me as a reader, but mostly simply stupid.
Just a shout out to the Lynx, far and away the best (maybe only good) professional sports team in Minnesota. I am very glad the President contacted Coach Reeves, and am thrilled our team will be honored by a visit with the President. Now it is time for a few more ticket sales. It is the best and least expensive show in town.
This kind of thinking is entirely consistent with the Republican take from the middle class to serve the wealthy that shows up in many forms. I am not surprised that a majority leader would suggest robbing the constituitonally provided fund for nature and the arts to give to a non-Minnesotan providing entertainment. It fits well with their plan to remove health care and education for the majority so that a few of their friends benefit.
I am an old guy that regularly attends Lynx games and have done so for several years. The environment is great (lots of noise, promotions and music) but the true draw is the quality of play and the athleticism of the players. The Lynx are very skilled, and it is a joy to watch their exceptional basketball play. But, most of all, and beyond the skill of these women, is their committment to each other and their fans. That is what is different, special and heartwarming to me. A great team...
I thought the Kutak Rock law firm the Attorney General has been using, has an office in Minnesota with resident attornies, and has had one for over 30 years. Could that item be checked?
Most of the Northern properties which are occupied by part time residents as vacation sites, or by others who purchased either by means of a tax deed or directly from a state agency, were tax forfeited at some time. The law requires the separation of the mineral rights from the land if lands are forefeited by failure to pay taxes on the property. The lands owned by the State and transfered by its agencies retains the mineral rights in the State and all of this is an appropriate and fair...
I would like to know the name of that insurance company so that I can decide on whether they are good guys or bad guys when they make their final decision. Is there a reason there name is not used?
Minnesota is so blessed to have Judge Gearin. Lawyers who practice before her know how intelligent, patient and wise she is, far beyond normal competence. When really tough matters are at issue, she is the preferred decider. Her instincts are balanced and appropriate, but her wealth of legal knowledge is simply unexpected, and always complete. She is probably one of the outstanding jurists in all of America, and we are the fortunate state where she sits.
We are now seeing the direct results of candidate subservience to a non-resident controller, the "No New Taxes" lobby for the ultra rich. Do you really think that Grover cares about Minnesota residents who will suffer as a reslt of legislators refusing to raise even the smallest amount of revenue from the least affected of our citizens? The Republicans should be thrown out for idiocy and inabilitiy to figure out who their constituents are. I suspect that Grover and his group are laughing...
Isn't it interesting that Pawlenty and Bachmann are both signing committments to vote a certain way even before they have the opportunity to speak to their constituents about the issues? Like the no new taxes pledge, they commit to an ideological promise without regard to the interest of the country. How can either, both lawyers, exclude a large segement of qualified judicial candidates berore even know who they would be? Both seem to me to be willing to sell their souls, and thier votes...
