MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
We can't bond for needed public infrastructure this year or even tax the luxury suites in this corporate palace to help pay for it. Says something about our priorities.
The game and fish bill was amended to remove protection of the watersheds of designated
trout streams in the fracking sand area of S.E. Minnesota. They did it with the DNR commissioner sitting at the table no less. The DFL defers to the iron range delegation at every
turn. The MCPA pulled out of the EPA research project on mercury in the St Louis River
watershed for the same reason. " Our strong standards will protect our precious resources "
is a blatant lie.
This is too practical too sensible and too timely to work in today's political climate.
This would be a painless way to use the Wallstreet Casino to erase the deficit and dampen
"irrational exuberance".
if I can't help but see a connection here with the vehemence of the attacks on Todd Jones for devoting so
much time and resources to prosecution of these people.
Making corporate financial crime a priority over street crime is apparently not popular with
those whose careers are tied to the "War on Drugs". From what I read, the latter crimes are being prosecuted in county courts anyway. Sounds more like inside baseball than a scandal.
Yes, the BWCA figured big in this race but green and black "Dump Fraser" bumper stickers were everywhere in the state, same as in the case of Spannaus.
Spare us the chamber of commerce pitch to trust the agencies to protect us. The last session
of the legislature went a long way to cripple standards and soften these agencies tasked with
protecting our lands and waters. We need only look to how current mine operations fail to meet
standards to tell us what is coming. Slow employment in construction is no excuse to hold our resources
hostage.
A smooth bolt action and a steady hold over open ground will do the job just fine. If not, don't shoot.
I called by agent to complain about an increase in my premium for my cabin and was told this is why. Insurance companies take climate change seriously apparently even if Fox News and the right do not.
