...why executives should be personally liable for the actions of their companies.

..."in a remarkably unusual occurrence for such cases, the four executives were each sentenced..."
Five dead = $23 million fine for the company and the "unusual" sentence of "up to" nine months in prison for four executives.

Of course, the chief executive got off scott-free... the four were scapegoats, probably about to deposit a bonus from the chief executive for taking the heat.

Posted on 06/06/12 at 08:52 pm in response to Stadium postmortem: How a wealthy NFL owner got millions from taxpayers

No matter how much I agree with Steve Simon other issues, I will vote against him because he voted for the stadium. Not only because of the principle involved, but he took a public stance against the stadium while supporting it behind closed doors.

All votes should be roll call votes; he can't deny how he voted -- it's public record. As far as I'm concerned, Steve lied to his constituents. Congratulations, Steve, you are now a professional politician.

Instead of "taking the fall for losing the Vikings", they should look at it as finally "having the guts to tell the Vikings where to get off".

I think this is where their latest proposal falls in line with that reasoning: "We'll pick up the tab for the sewers, roads, and sidewalks for your building" is the most the state should do.

Aren't you supposed to get a marriage license before you get married?

Seems to me the easiest solution is to get the license at the same place where you get "legally" married. Then the courts get to decide if they can ignore a legal document from another state.

Sean: Your definition of the purpose of marriage as procreation and protection of the family is only from a moral and religious point of view. Historically, it is also about property rights.

My only problem with "...

“Concealment of data should be regarded as a serious ethical breach..."

No, it is fraud.

_It's the owners of those businesses, along with the leaders of the area's largest corporations, who should be joining the stadium debate and pushing the governor and legislators to finally get serious about a stadium solution that includes a responsible investment in a statewide asset.” Taxpayers! Come to the rescue of your local bar owners!_

1) Those bars are not local to me...

2) Forget joining the debate; if a stadium is so important to their business, they should cough up...

RE: Sue for Pesticide Drift
It's about time... Maybe this will start the ball rolling against Monsanto, who has been suing farmers for patent infringement when Monsanto seed drifts onto non-Monsanto farms.
