MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
You would think with all the contentious issues in the 6th Congressional District, including a heated race between Michelle Bachmann and challenger Jim Graves, there would be huge lines of people waiting to vote in Forest Lake. There was no line, and no waiting. Is this good or bad for Bachmann?
Hi, just to answer a question posed in your article: The economic impact of the arts in Minneapolis, last studied in 2006 in "The Arts: A Driving Force in Minnesota's Economy" was $328 million annually. This includes $233.3M in annual spending by nonprofit arts and culture organizations and an additional $97.7M in event-related spending by their audiences (not including the sales of tickets). This is a ridiculous list.
I just want to say I'm a fan of your writing, Max. I enjoy your articles. Thanks!
If there is a lobbying organization representing consumers, they should weigh in here in favor of Sunday sales, if only for the convenience of consumers.
Car dealers should be open on Sundays too. I tried shopping for cars on my one free day, only to find that no car dealers were open. I was flabbergasted. Why would you be closed on the one day that most consumers would be trying to buy your product?
Sally, I'm happy to report that when we see you are going to be in a play, we know it will be worth seeing. Congrats!
FYI, Andy's article was indeed an April Fool's joke. (Hit the link to "take action" and see where it takes you).
