Karen, very well said.

Right wingers often complain about political correctness, but they have no trouble calling our military spending defense when actually many of our campaigns over the past few decades have been offense. Perhaps we should return to a title of War Department and a Secretary of War, which would be more appropriate.

It was God's Will that Christians did not vote.

The DFL will not be in control forever, so let's have early voting and not having the possibility of having long lines with people waiting over eight hours to vote, as has occurred in other states. We are one state that still resembles democracy. Let's keep it that way.

Australia? Why move to a socialist nation? Now that the GOP has regained control of both houses of the state legislature in Wisconsin and with Scott Walker leading the way, they have a right wing haven across the river. Moving costs will be minimal for those concerned about fiscal matters.

The large majority of Minnesotans want the top 5% to pay their fair share of taxes. If the Democrats move quickly to enact higher taxes on the wealthy, it will help them in 2014.

There is much more opportunity for voter fraud with the use of voter machines than there is with people voting illegally by not showing identification.

Many nations in the world have elections on Sunday when people have more opportunity to go to the polling places. If we really want people to participate in elections, there is no reason that we can't have polls open on weekends during an election year to make it convenient for voters. Also, to protect the integrity of elections,...

"capitalism and democracy are cut from the same cloth." Western European socialist democracies, especially those in Scandinavia, are considered the most honest in the world. Many people in those nations are very happy with their systems and don't feel dominated by government, while they see the USA as a plutocracy.

Several residents in the 8th state that it is true that Cravaack's town hall meetings were simply GOP sessions; for instance, one at Northland Country Club in Duluth simply had Republican business people attending.

The news media, which is owned by corporate interests and slants its news to the right, definitely is not the liberal press that so many right wingers claim. WCCO is a good example.

Posted on 09/06/12 at 04:42 pm in response to Keith Ellison accuses GOP of 'bigotry'

The Tea Party element of the GOP is not longer conservative as in the tradition of Eisenhower, Dirksen, Javits, etc. Since their policies want to take us back to the late 1800's before we had the Populist movement, today's GOP should be labeled reactionary.

The USA has the highest costs for health care in the world, but ranks 37th in quality, which is the reason that many Americans travel to other nations, mainly the socialist democracies, for medical care. Of course, the mainsteam media, controlled by corporate interests, never gives us this information.
