MinnPost is a nonprofit, nonpartisan enterprise whose mission is to provide high-quality journalism for news-intense people who care about Minnesota.
Donations and pledges totaling $25,000 or more have been made by each of the families and foundations listed. For a list of all donors by category, see our most recent Year End Report.
I would hope to see a balance in articles since both parties are guilty of these type of politics. I would be refreshing to see some real reporting with facts and less opinions/bias to give people a real sense of what is going on. This is the main reason I do not support what media we have in the twin cities and relay on multiple sources. Interestingly I find more real reporting from over seas media than our own.
Great but if our energy policy is going to focus on using less yet we are pushing for more electric products i.e. cars we should be also focusing on more electric plants. I for one do not really care of these new bulbs. I tried several of them and find their life expectancy to the same or shorter. They cost more and the light they give off tend to bother my eyes. How about letting us choose which kind of bulb we like best and the loser will just go out of business.
If we are looking at raising more revenue then that seems to tell me that we have a spending problem. It is OK to admit that Governor Dayton. It's the first step to recovery. Now we can cut spending and start living within our balanced budget.
This tells me that Gov. Dayton seems to OK with the shutdown because he can still pay for what he wants out-of-pocket. The budget sent to him was balanced and in fact was an increase from the last budget. And because we need to tax someone to get the budget we wants tells us that we have a SPENDING problem and should look at what really is not necessary. And this shutdown I think will show us what the heck the government is in to. I think we will find that government is doing more than...
If Gov. Dayton really was concerned, there would have been a lights on bill while they hammered this out. And the fact Gov. Dayton wants to raise taxes, does not matter on who because we all know when that fails they go after the next group, he acknowledges that this state has a spending problem. We really need to look at our budget here and see what can be cut because like most family budgets, we need to live within our budgets and cut out the extras and believe me this state has some...
Wow the third wheel group sure came up with some great ideas. Raise taxes. Seems to be they along with Dayton admit we are spending too much so lets focus on reducing the spending instead. If the forecast indicate a certain amount of revenue is coming in, let us try ONLY spend within that amount. I think it is called living within your means. Money does not grow on trees, it comes from hard working people so lets not be so free with other peoples money.
... When asked what it's like to lead a state on the forefront of government shutdowns across the country, Dayton replied: "I wouldn't choose it." - But that is his choice even though he said it was something he would not do. Not sure where his head is on this one since raising taxes is not guaranteeing the additional amount of revenue he wants. Once taxes are raised, government will spend as if the money is going to be there. If there are money problems, lets try spending reductions not...
Everyone needs to remember that government is not efficient in their spending of OUR money so giving more is not the answer. Making them work with current budget at least puts a cap on there spending. What happens when the money is not there but the spending is? OH SNAP - Raise taxes on the not so rich...that didn't work either? Let's think about this, If your household does not have enough income you either work more or spend less. If you cannot get that 2nd or 3rd job then maybe...
but ridership is up from what? What are the numbers? How about alittle more info to see if we are really getting our moneys worth. I suspect that the cost/ridership is going to be way more then buses.
